Resources of the Bank of Dade, which opened for business on January 12, 1956, have now reached approximate¬ ly $900,000.00, as reported by George H. Harrison, President. This (growth is very gratifying, the bank official states, and is some indication of the need for this service in this community. The Directors and Officials of the institution are justly proud of the progress that is seen on every hand, in which the bank has assisted and participated. Byron Pope Robbed For the second time in a year Byron Pope of Hooker has been robbed. Early Tuesday morning as he was doing the farm chores, a man stepped up behind him, pinned his arms at his sides and demanded his money. All Mr. Pope had was between seven and eight dollars. On Monday Mr. Pope had noticed a car parked beside his place but thought no more about it. However, James Clay in walk¬ ing from his home past the Pope place on his way to catch his ride to Chattanooga to work, not only noticed it Monday morning but again on Tuesday morning. He did not recognize the car but when it passed him, after he had caught his ride, he became suspicious and they followed it to Red Bank where the Hamil¬ ton County police stopped it, Mr. Pope having telephoned them a description of the car. It is reported the culprit, who says his home is in Mobile, but it is believed he has been living in Trenton, confessed to the Chief Deputy at the Hamilton County Jail and Dade County Sheriff Allison Blevins and De¬ puty H. H. Hutchins went there and brought him to Trenton. Mr. Pope said it was fortunate for him it had not happened Monday as he had some ca~n on him with which he had bought cattle.
