Mesdames Lillian Strawn, Ruth Strawn and Grace Mit¬ chum entertained w r ith a shower Friday night at the home of Mrs . Mitchum, honoring Mrs. Tommy Mitchum. Mr. and Mrs. William Dicker- son announce the birth of a son, William Edward, Sept. 3, at Wildwood Sanitarium. Mr. Bob White is a patient at a Chattanooga clinic. Mr. and Mrs. Millard Boshears of Lafollette, Tenn. spent the week end with their daughter, Mrs. John Ingram and Mr. Ingram. Allison attended the funeral services of Ben Justus, a former resident of Rising Fawn, who died at his home in 'LaFayette, Ga. Rev. Hankins, Greendale, Va¬ is giving a series of four meet¬ ings on the topic of “Holy Habits”. These talks will be de¬ livered at the church of the cir¬ cuit alternating nights—Rising Fawn, Byrd’s Chapel and Cave Springs. Mr. and Mrs. Jiles Dean are the proud parents of a daugh¬ ter, Denise Renee, born in a Fort Payne hospital. Grandpa Dean is buying this second grandchild a piano, immediately Route 2 Thelma West and Cheeta Whetzell entertained at Mrs. Leon Woods Saturday night with a shower for Carolyn Wood Brown. She received many beautiful gifts. About 25 were present. Mrs. Dorothy Daily West won the prize at the ishower for dropping the most clothes pins in jar. Mrs. Leona Wood and Vickie Cooper were runners-up. Mitchell Tinker visited relat¬ ives this week end on the moun¬ tain. Archie Tinker and family v/ere visiting his sister Friday. Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Hardeman visited his dad recently. Ada Tinker visited Vickie Cooper Monday. Leslie Cooper visited his mother, Maggie Cooper Sun¬ day. The Fred Cooper family visited her daughter of Long Is¬ land Sunday p. m. Estel Tinker’s house is almost finished. Brenda Gail Stewart was to be buried Tuesday at Brown Gap Cemetery, who it is believed was killed Sunday around 5:30. Funeral will be at Pleasant Grove Church. Lots of the neigh bors have sat up all night with the Stewart family since the little girl was killed. I know they appreciate all who have helped in any way. Mrs. Stone baked a cake and brought it.
