CLUB EXPRESSES APPRECIATION TO BOOTH WORKERS Mrs. Martin Nethery, presi¬ dent of the Trenton Home Dem¬ onstration Club, cited the follow 4ng persons for their help with the blue ribbon club booth and the popcorn stand at the fair: when members gathered Tues¬ day night at the home of Mrs. Roy MicBryar: Mesdames Jack Cash, who was booth chairman; George Getter, who was in charge of the pop¬ corn and peanut concession; Lewis Whited, W. G. Morrison, Jr., H. E. Gross, M. J. Hale, John Tatum, Asa McMahan, Virgil Jenkins, Dr. and Mrs. Hutchison, Darrell Gaddis, A. C. Brock and other members o f Georgia Power Company. The club then gave a vote of thanks which included Mrs. Nethery, who was very active in both projects. More tickets for the council- sponsored Charm School on Cct. 30-Nov. 1 were distributed, and it was announced that the admission charge of $2.00 for adults and $100 for pre-teens and teen-agers was considerably lower than the usual $5.00 and $8.00 charge made by other area groups for the same school. It was decided that the pre¬ sent slate of officers would serve as a nominating commit¬ tee prior to the forth-coming election of officesr in November. They are: Mesdames Nethery, H. E. Gross, vice-president; Troy Wisner, secretary; and Harold Gross, treasurer. Before Miss Naomi Hubble's most inspiring demonstration on holiday gift-making, Mrs. Jules Case presented her with a gift of china as a token of the club’s best wishes toward her approach ing marriage. Little hostess aprons of net, organdy and pieced cotton, place mats and hand towels of variuos materials were passed around the group during Miss Hubble's demonstration as a re¬ minder that it is not too early t o begin making Christmas gifts. Pace, chairman of the Ways and Means Committee of the Dade High PTA, is an¬ nouncing that an old-fashioned Box Supper will be held in the cafetorium on Saturday , Nov. 8. Proceeds will be used on pro¬ jects sponsored by the organi¬ zation during the year. Everyone is invited to bring a box full of food ready to eat. These will be auctioned off to the highest bidder, so the even¬ ing promises to be a great deal of fun. Other details are being plan- red and will be voted upon at the next meeting, which will be Thursday night, Nov. 6. DAVIS LOSES TO IDER; TO PLAY AGAIN FRIDAY Ider scored a win over the Davis Yellowjackets Saturday flight 13-6, but Davis expects to bring its record of wins up this Friday night, October 31, when Chattanooga Valley travels to the mountain. This will be a Region 4-C game and if Davis wins, the team will be tied with the Dade Wildcats. CHICKEN STEW There will be a chicken stew, Saturday night, Nov. 1, at the New Home Community Center. Cakes, pies, and coffee will be for ■sale also. Country music will be provided by local talent. Every¬ one is welcome to join in the fun. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY GEORGIA: SECTION 1 Article VIII of the Constitu¬ tion is amended bv inserting following Section 4 thereof a new section which shall be known as Section 4 (A), and which shall read as follows: “Section 4 (A). Every city, county, county school system, in¬ dependent school system, school system established prior to the adoption of the Constitution of 1877 and any other political sub¬ division of the State created for college purposes and possessing the power to levy ox to recom¬ mend the levy of a tax is hereby empowered with authority to establish a college or colleges The General Assembly may au¬ thorize by local legislation the establishment of a college or colleges by any of the political subdivisions of this State enu¬ merated above in combination with one or more other such political subdivisions, Any such legislation shall also contain the the governmental combined organisation political sub¬ of divisions and an authorization to levy a tax for college purposes over the entire area contained in such combination of political subdivisions. Any college or col¬ leges established by virtue of the authority contained in this Section of the Constitution shall be established under the terms of appropriate legislation of a general nature which shall con¬ tain a provision that the loca¬ tion, establishment cojjege and plan of operation of such or col¬ leges shall be approved by the Board of Regents of the Univer¬ sity System prior to the estab¬ lishment of such college or colleges. SECTION 2 When the above proposed amendment to the Constitution shall have been agreed to by two-thirds of the members elected to each o l the two branches of the General As¬ sembly, and the same has been entered on their journals with the “Ayes” and “Nays” taken thereon, such proposed amend¬ ment shall be published and submitted as provided in Article, XIII, Section I, Paragraph I of the Constitution of Georgia of 1945, as amended. The ballot submitting the above proposed amendment shall have written or printed thereon the following: “For ratification of amend¬ ment to the Constitution so as to authorize certain political subdivisions of the State to es¬ tablish colleges. “Against ratification of amendment to the Constitution so as to authorize certain polit¬ ical subdivisions of the State to establish colleges.” All persons desiring to in favor of adopting the pro¬ posed amendment shall vote for ratification of the amendment, end all persons desiring to vote against the adoption , of the pro¬ posed amendment shall against ratification. If such amendment shall be ratified as provided in said Par agraph of the Constitution, shall become a part .of the Con stitution of this State. The re turns of the election shall be made in like manner as lor elections for members of General Assembly, and it be the duty of the Secretary of State to ascertain the result and certify the result to the Gover¬ nor, who shall issue his proc¬ lamation thereon.
