DUMPING OF TRASH It seems the dumping of trash along the roads, or in the easi¬ est place possible, is toeing prac¬ ticed to such an extent that it is becoming an eye-sore again. It toas gotten so bad in the Wild¬ wood community that several of the farmers, with R. S. Boyd as spokesman, have reported this to the Ordinary, have posted their land and said they intend to prosecute offenders. The law reads:-“26-8119. DUMPING TRASH, etc. on right of way of highway or on lands of another. Any person, firm or corporation who shall willfully empty, dump, or otherwise place, any trach, tin cans, garbage, rubbish, dead animals, or other discarded materials upon the right of way of any public road State-aid road, State highway, or upon the lands of another without first having obtained permission shall be guilty of a misdemeanor’'. We are informed that a mis¬ demeanor carries a fine of $1,000 or 6 months in jail or 12 months at the Public Work Camp or both fine and sentence. SPECIAL NOTICE Miss Wilma F. Soil Samples are still coming in at the County Agent’s office. Have you brought yours in yet? The auditors have completed their audit of the county funds. They stated that “funds were properly accounted for”. The Tax Commiss ioner reports the sale of 1959 auto and truck tags is very slow and 'there is only one more month left. Only about a third of the registered car owners have bought their new tags. 1959 driver’s licenses are due the first of April. The state trooper with the validating machine will be here as usual on the third Monday of the month, March 16. Mrs. R. G. Peterson is serious¬ ly ill at her home in the Floral Crest Community. She suffered a stroke Sunday and here daughter, Ruth and son Frank are here from Florida. Mr. and Mrs. James W. Hicks have purchased a new home in Chattanooga and have moved away from the county. Deborah, small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Craze under went an appendectomy at a Chattanooga hospital Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Billie Higdon announce the birth of a daugh¬ ter, Feb. 23 at a Chattanooga hospital. The baby has been named Connie Elaine. Mr. and Mrs. Bob White visit¬ ed Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mosely at Victoria, Tenn. Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Toliver and daughter have moved into this community from Burning Bush, Tenn.
