ter in adopting the resolution.
“The present system will take
care of only about 200 additional
customers. That’s all the springs
can supply,” he said.
The net profit to the city on
the sale of the system to the
authority (some 120,000) could
be used to purchase fire fight¬
ing equipment, Mayor Sims
said, thus bringing about a re¬
duction in fire insurance rates.
Others on the council were
less committal. All present mem
bers, including the office of re¬
corder, are expected to be can¬
didates for re-election.
Mayor Sims said "as long as
the people of Trenton elect me
to the office, I'll serve in the
best way I know how.”
The question to be voted upon
is simply whether the city shall
sell its water system to the aut¬
hority. If It is sold, the author¬
ity then would assume all ob¬
ligations, relieving the city of a
bonded indebtedness of more
than 180,000, while at the same
time providing adequate water
'service, Alteration and other ad¬
vantages.
The authority would serve
most of the county, including
Trenton, if the vote is favorable.
