The net profit to the city on the sale of the system to the authority (some 120,000) could be used to purchase fire fight¬ ing equipment, Mayor Sims said, thus bringing about a re¬ duction in fire insurance rates. Others on the council were less committal. All present mem bers, including the office of re¬ corder, are expected to be can¬ didates for re-election. Mayor Sims said "as long as the people of Trenton elect me to the office, I'll serve in the best way I know how.” The question to be voted upon is simply whether the city shall sell its water system to the aut¬ hority. If It is sold, the author¬ ity then would assume all ob¬ ligations, relieving the city of a bonded indebtedness of more than 180,000, while at the same time providing adequate water 'service, Alteration and other ad¬ vantages. The authority would serve most of the county, including Trenton, if the vote is favorable.
