Invitation and a refusal
kN 1 patron writes
j tor of Union Recorder,
ir Mr. Editor:
Bect-ntly I received an invitation
attt-nd a funeral, and as strange as
aV sound I decline the invitation.
I am ending you a copy of thia

the present day officials.
Now in conclusion let me say that
I can’t cast my pride to the four
winds of the world and become one
of the senders of such an article. 1
can’t forget that this .-a me bunch of
people, are the ones that hav
ways tried to destroy the principles
that all true Democratic hold so dear

lending it failed to sign any name, I

t hat 1 won't be present at the funeral
^ ut through your paper. Below is a
of the invitation.
FUNERAL NOTICE

First let me say that they or any-

impossibility, as it has already
cn tried too many times; and as to
Mr. and Mrs. Tammany Hall, it is of
ie writer’s opinion thnt the party
ho sent this notice has no concep.

e is no need for worry over Tand

t Saloon Keepers Union and East
! Bar Tenders that you speak of,
they were discarded long years ago
by the Democrats, but were picked
up by the Republicans as every one
knows, and if it weren't for the
cur.-e of ignorance, it would have
never been mentioned, much less,
charged to the Democratic Party.
Interment, Nov. 6th? Well let’s
‘ait and see, never count your chick-
ns before your eggs hatch. I know
he promoter of such stuff would re-
oice to m?c the principle of Demo-
racy buried forever—hut oh no that
vill never be, as long as there's a
park of Jefferson's teachings left in
the face of the earth.
Now comes the Sons of Italy sing-

Doesn’t that amuse you, reader?
Illiteracy, where art thou? ? ? My
irnest hope is that The Sidewalks
New York, the popular air that it

the four corners of the earth,
then we will be sure of victory’.

I can't forget the cause of 1860,
nor can I forget the principles for
which my Fore-fathers f *ught. These
grand old men gave up their lives
that I might enjoy the tiue principle
of Democracy, and to turn my back
on the memories of such worthy
as Jefferson, Jackson, and Lee and
j numerous other great men, I would
feel that I was no longer worthy to
be called the son of A Southern
Gentleman and the Grandson of Two
Confederate Veterans.
If I were inclined to forget TJie
principles of Democracy and nr.l
enough to accept the doctrine of such
people as those who sent such ni
tide to me, I too would be ready to
board (Mr. Hoover's) Band Wagon,
with Ben J. Davis at its steerage, and
cry aloud, "Oh, Master, what wilt
thou have me do?” Further, I would
write Mr. Dyer and offer my assist-
ancc to aid him in blowing up White
Supremacy in the South.
I would join in with the** other
illiterate bigots and help them to say
"To Hell with A1 Smith” because he
is a Catholic. But. being a true
liever that every man ban a right to
his own belief, that which is guaran
teed him by the Constitution of the
United Sta*cs of America, 1 refrain
from making such malicious ignor
ant remarks.
Yours for A1 Smith for President
on November 6th. 1928, and Demo
