AUTO LAWS ON THE HIGHWAYS
There is never a session of the
Grand Jury that is not reminded of
the fact that they must look into and
do something about the autos running
with one light or being driven by
minors. Every session of th»* Jury,
a paragraph in their presentin. *ts is
devoted to urging the officers to en
force these law’s.
So as usual we call to the atten
tion of this body this wide open vio
lation over the county. It is not the
of the officers altogether, but
the general thoughtlessness of the
car owner and driver. Merely re
minding a person of their failure
does very little good, but a little
more definite persuasion some times
is the best remedy.
While there is no law requiring
a person to dim their lights, com-
mon courtesy and decency demand
it. This is one of the little court
esies that most everyone overlooks
and especially in Georgia. It is
certainly thoughtlessness, but every
car has the dim switch conveniently
located so that it is little trouble
“Fine. I want to .ask you a ques
tion—did you ever play golf?"
“Play what?" asked Billie Bunny.
“Gold—g-o-l-f. Nice game."
“We never played it. Will you
show us how?"
“Come here tomorrow morning
early, and bring two clubs and—”
How many members must the
clubs have?” asked Bobbk.
"Clubs are sticks—not—not—well,
not what you think they are. They
ore sticks with knots on the ends of
them.”
“Are they not?" aswed Bobbie.
“You’re too smart," replied the
Bird.
The Babbie children skipped home
nnd went to bed with their secret
about golf and when morning came
they were oi where Mister Jay
Bird had told them to come. Each
had a stick with a knot on the end
of it.
“Pretty lktle knot, is it not?"
asked Billie, when Mister Jay Bird
came to the limb of the tree above
them.
“Quit your nonsense and get u
hickory nu*. for the ball,” shrieked
the Bird.
“You’ll be wanting us to ca‘. your
dinner for you next,” said Bobbie, as
ho hopped off in search of a nut.
By and bye he returned and the
Bird told him to make a little hill
and put the nut on it. He /aid to
hi*, the nut and make it go in the
h.la in the old oak tree.
Bobbie put the nut down and hit
it BANG! The nut flew up and just
missed Mister Jay Bird’s head.
“Hey, you! Stop that. You shoot
at *hat hole in th tree.”
Bobbie put the nut on the little
hill and told Billie to hit it.
BIFF!
Billie gav the nut a swat! and
it disappeared in the hole in the old
oak tree.
"I’ll get it," said Bobbie. He
to the tree and looked and looked,; golf, too," she remarked,
but he couldn’t see the nut In a j “Ha, ha, ha-" laughed the Bird,
few minutes he heard a noise up in “We’ll fix you for that” shouted
the tree and there sa. Mrs. Squirrel the Rabbit children as they skipped
cracking the nut “I like to play'away.
