•MILITARY TRAINING”
By Cadet Marvin Thompson
Sir.oi 1 the JW 1918 then; ha*
been much di^cuwuon, bnth pro and
con. on the subject of Military train
ing for high school youths. Many
well known educator* who arc num-

id against it on the grounds that it
heeds war. On the other hand there
ar»- many- equally well known men
of culture who look at it in a saner
tone, camely that of health and the
attention to detail necessary in a
peaceful and useful life.
Let's look at it in a broadminded
way. Suppose we say that there are

sorrow of the deepest to innocent
people. Military training embrace*
in its virtue, competion. L'ompetion

ars and adds zest to the games of!
military seience, the problems, their;
purpose and final achievement.
There are countless benefits to be
derived. Neatness i* * requisite and ^
an admirable trait in anyone: this is'
inherent in some people, must be
taught other*, and in the final ona-

respect. Then again we n»ve a sense
of honor. It is developed without
aid, in some dormant and must be
brought out in others, what better
