have been.
Sne loved her people with her
whole heart, and her friendship was
of the truest, the kind that endure ,
that never fails. She could “for
give” and “forget." It hits been
said that she had the ability to find
something good in every one, even
in the person with the lowest charac
ter. In her calm tone of voice oi.e
could be found by the bedside of
even in the days of her affliction.
She loved and was loved by her rela
tives and friends in return. To her
there was no night so dark thut she
would not plunge into the darkness
to rescue a friend in distress. She
was of that kind. Day after day she
could be found by the bed side of
the sick with cheerful words and
helping hands. She could not go
into the foreign fields to carry sal
vation to the heathens, but she
could brighten the corner where she
was and she did.
Circumstance nlloted a great soul
to a quiet walk, but that soul found
the illimitable reaches at the end of
the neighU>rhood path.-, the great
wonders in the common place, in the
glory and fineness that Jesus of Na
zareth taught in his daily ministra
tions. Since she has departed her
people are sad and her place is va
cant. This sentiment is well ex
pressed in the poem:—
A precious ono from us is gone
A voice we loved is still
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.
Mrs. Hardy is survived by on sis
ter—Mrs. J. C. Rushion of Williams
burg, Virginia; two brothers—J. M.
And hear, as of her, of you.
