HOT AND DRY WEATHER
CAUSING WORRY
The continued unseasonable
weather which has prevailed for
several week.-, is causing much
concern among the farmers and
those dependent on wells through
out the county.
The river an dother streams are
at a low level and vegitation is
showing sign* of the long dry
weather. Shrubbery, trees and
■flower gardens are sufferings. Fall
vegetable gardens have been im
possible.
Many wells have dried up and
small branches and springs are
practically without water. The
thermometer has registered sum
mer time heat for several days
also.
While rains have fallen In north
Georgia, this section has been
without a rain since early Sep
tember. The condition is becom
ing* acute and unless rains ar-
rivt soon, the drought will be th-
most severe this section has ever
experienced.

Bishop W. N. Ainsworth, presid
ing Bishop of *he North Georgia
Methodist conference, visited the
Methodist church in this city last
Sunday and preiched at the morn
ing service.
A large and appreciative congre
gation greeted the Bishop on his
first officail visi* to the church. Rev.
Horcne Smith. »astor of the church,
briefly welcomed Bishop Ainsworth
to the church and introduced him
to the congregation. Bishop Ains
worth is an outstanding pulpit ora
tor and both young and old found
his message inspiring.
He took tor his text the words
spoken by Jesus to his disciples af
ter his conversation with the wo
man at the well. “I have meat to
eat that ye know not of."
He mentioned a great cause
of the things that gives strength to
a man’s soul. Men have found lif
and food for the mind and spirit in
championing a great cause,
who gives himself to the seeking
of the Kingdom of God and is will
ing to die if need be that its princi
ple* may have *he mastery in the
world has meat to eat.
The second thing by which a
in live is a good conscience. He
pictured Felix on the throne tremb
ling from fear and Paul the
acled prisoner standing before him
calm and poised as he reasoned of
temperance and righteousness and
judgment. “Paul, how can you be
strong and fearless?’’ “Herein do»I
exercise myself to have always
emscience void of offense toward
God and toward man."
Lastly the Bishop said, there is
food for a man’s soul in communion
with a friend of fine character and
high ideals. Such a friend can be
nur stay and strength and inspira
tion. The Friend of friends is Jeeus
