SHOWERS ARRIVE AFTER
MANY WEEKS’ DROUTH
Farmers Ready to Sow Winter Crops.
Crisp Weather Welcomed.
After a prolonged drouth, a heavy
rain fell in MiUedgeviUe and vicinity
last week. Sowing d- wheat and
cats had been delayed by farmers
because of the prevailing dry weath-
p, and fall gardens had not been
planted.
With seasonable ■weather, fall
work cn farms will begin in earnest
and alone with this will come the
erindine ol cane as syrup making
begins. ., ...
Dry weather has probably curtail-
ed the syrup crep to some cv'.ent.
large acreage was planted this
vear and a fair yield is in prospect.
Mindful ot the appearance of their
premises Mllledgeville homo own-
are planting winter gmss. and
cold weather comes a beautiful
green carpel will adorn lawns at
many of the homes in the city.
That “tired feeling" which many
have complained of during October
as summer-like weather prevailed
will give way to the vigor which
is n part of crisp fall days, and peo
ple will instinctively react to the
season.

Rev. Fred P. Grigg’s, pastor of the
C. M. E. Church and his wife, had
practically all of their clothing
solen some time last Friday night.
The clothing, representing a two
week’s ’aundry, were taken from a
line in the yard where they had
been left to dry. Clues to locate the
stolen articles have not been found.
The loss comes heavy on the col
ored preacher just now, as he is
busy getting ready to entertain his
church conference next week.
