Miss Grace Stembridge has recov ered from a recent operation and is out again. • • • Mr. Albert Simmons is convalesc ing from a tonsil operation at the Scott Hospital. Mrs. Grady Keel, Mrs. E. J. Rhodes and Mrs. Lucian Lawrence spent Wednesday in Atlanta. The friends of Mrs. W. T. On Wednesday afternoon Mrs. | Gtis Woods was hostess to the mem bers of her bridge club with Mrs. Guy Cantrell, of Panama, as the honor guest. Beautiful chrysanthe mums were used in attractive bowls vases. At the conclusion of the games, a delicious salad course was served. Prizes went to Mrs. Nat Knight for high score and to Mrs. L. R. Langley for second high. Mrs. Cantrell was given an attractive guest prize. AT THE CHURCHES Methodist Church Rev. Horace Smith will conduct the final services of the year on next Sunday. At the morning service he will preach on. "Christians and the World." The evening services will be conducted at tne usual hour and the pastor will preach. Presbyterian Church i R«*v. R. W. Oakey will preach at j both the morning and evening ser- I vices of the church. In the morning i his subject will be "What is Import ant?" TOM HALL SMITH HOSTESS TO BRIDGE CLUB. Mrs. Tom Hall Smith was hostess to the members of her bridge club at a delightful party at her home i Wayne street. Autumn flowers were used in decoration and the color motif of autumn was carried out. At the elusion o' the games delicious freshments were served. Mrs. Otir Woods won high score prize and Mrs. Royce Smith was winner of the cut prize. MELVILLE ROGERS RECEIVES PROMOTION Mr. Melville Rogers, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Rogers, has been named manager of the Silver’s Drug department at their Columbus, Ga., store. Mr. Roger* left Atlanta to few months ago after working for about year following his graduation from the Atlanta School of Pharmacy. He has been with the Walgreen store in Columbus. Lee Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confeder acy held a most interesting meeting with Mrs. John Stiles at the Bald win Hotel on Tuesday. The meeting was opened with the reading of the ritual and a short isincss discussion. Mrs. M. H. B'lnd gave a fine re port of the convention in Savan nah which she attended recently. Mrs. M. M. Parks talked most entcr- taingly of the Battle of Shiloh Pittsburgh. Tenn., and of the monu ments and battlefield, showed pic tures which had been brought back from the scene of the battle by Miss Elizabeth Alford. The program was concluded with a solo by Mrs. Edgar Long who sang Kipling’s Recessional. During the social hour a delicious salad course and ice course wer-? served by the hostess Mrs. Stiles assisted In entertaining by Mrs. Rob ert Harper and Miss Blanche Greene. BUSINESS WOMAN'S CIRCLE MET. The Business Woman's Circle of the Presbyterian church met Tues day evening with Miss Louise Al bert. Mrs. Charlie Conn of Circle 2. gave an interesting book review of "That Other America"—the Foreign Mission Study Dirk for this year. Miss Catherine Weaver gave the Bible Study for the month. The next meeting will be held in the Mansion Annex. Monday even ing. December 2nd. with Mrs. Ethel Beaman and Mrs. Maude Bates as hostesses.
