1 have attentively examined a Digest of the
Laws of Georgia, from If 1 ' 1 ), t 2 1829 inclusive,
and find the work is executed with much
nicnt and accuracy, hv A Foster*, esq. of < ’olum
bia county,. 1 hive no doubt the work will
prove valuable to every citizen who feels desir
ous to become informed ofthe statutes now of
force in the state, and would recommend all jus
tices of the inferior court, justices of tho peace,
cle. ks, sheriffs, t, c. to possess themselves of the
work as soon as published.
THOMAS GLASCOCK.
I have examined a digest of the Laws of Geor
gia from to 1629 inclusive, by A. Foste<
esq. and think Die work executed with great judg
ment and accuracv . The work is intended as a
continuation of Prince’s Digest, and is, ininy opin
ion, well calculated to answer that valna lie pur
pose. Although tho author is not professionally
a Lawyer, lie seems, in ascertaining tne slauitns
now ot force, to hive added much care examina
tion and’study, to his advantages as a practical le
gislate, during most ofthe period embraced in his
work.

Sir—As far as I have yet had an opportunity
of examining the manuscript copy’ of your digest,
ot the laws of Dio state of Georgia, I highly ap
prove both of its plan and execution. The vol
ume cannot fail to answer well the purpose for
which it was intended In the appendix there
are a number of precedents ot forms, which ap
pear to have been modeled with accuracy, and in
strict conformity to the digested statues from
which they were drawn; and without doubt will
add much to tho value and usefulness of *'io
work, as a mean (in the hands of the jtistm.o of
tho peace, justices of the inferior CQmtg, clerks
sheriffs, young pra. tilionersnf tho law, and oth
ers) in errying tlio above named laws into effect
with greater facility.
I am sir your olicdieht servant,
PIERSON PETIT.
Arthur Foster esq.
HrrAt the suggestion of the professional gen
tlemen whose names are affixed to tho above cer
tificates, and others who have generously taken
an in’erest in the work, and with rn auxinusde
sire to make the work as extensively useful as
possible to the public, tho compiler will introduce
into it sevcial highly important laws of tho Uni
ted Stales, in comuym uso among the peoplo,
and which aro oflcn difficult to be tound; among
Which a-c tin so i relation to the naturalization
of aliens tho reinaval of cases from tiie state to
