Oct. 22, IS3I. We art* mithorfced to announce Ep <V!x K. |{issi;i.r. hs n mididnte for Clerk oftlic Interior Court of 31 useogee coun ty. ut tlie ensuing election. Oci. 21, 1621. We list c received returns (rom 7 i coiiclie for Governor; the following is Uic rot, nil. Lumpkin, 27,378 Gilmer, 25,MU Present majority for Lumpkin 2,314 The Macon Telegraph, that staunch advocate of the people, has lately come out in an entire new dress, aed will he published daily. This is a proud evi denec of the rapid and increasing pros perity of Macon, os well r.s ti.e talent and enterprise of the editor. We hope the undertaking will meet with entire success. The Mucon Telegraph will also be published weekly as hereto fore. The appearance of the Savannah Republican has also been greatly im proved within a short period. It is now published ti a beautiful type; and ihe great met it which has lately marked its t dilorials exhibits evidence of what ceeir.s to have been intimated, that the returning Health of the veteran senior editor, h.s again enub-cd him to take tiie field, and devote bis talents to the press. This is one of the ablest jour nals of the state, and its history lias been marked with gloat ability and devotion to the democracy of the country: and we-are much gratified to perceive that the returning health of the senior edit or.with the active exertions of his youn ger associate, are sufficient to maintain its former high standing. The Philadelphia Free Trade conven tion, have met, made a few speeches, reports fce. and separated again. In what Planner they have settled the con flicting claims of the contending can didates for the next presidency > c have not ueard. Whether like the Anti tnasnnic convention they go in for Mr. Wirt, or whether they have taken sides witli the ii'iUiliers and Mr. Calhoun, is not yet made public. These South Car olina fellows however, are active and daring int riguers. Li rent efforts are making to embody all the .Southern feel ing: ell the animosity against the tariff, consolidation Sc internal improvement, under Calhoun, and iu hit favor, at some prospective contest for the presi dency; it may not perhaps be deemed expedient to oppose Jackson at the ilext election. But there are indications which cmiuotbe mistaken, that Calhoun will be in the field at the head of the nui itiers, the State rights folks, kc. &tc. at some not very remote period. \\ here then will Georgia Oe louiid! This is a question vvni.it the People ought to be ready to answer; because there are pol iticians who are now plotting, and counterplotting to arrange these mat ters without any reference to their will, or regard for their interests. Wt notice the following interesting tri umpii ut nit in the last Savannah lie- 1 publican. Some months sinae, an advertisement 1 appeared in the Republican, under the ! signature of "Or. Osborn, Surgeon | Dentist of this city," who mentioned in the same, that ho eon.cl supply all defi- j oiencies in the month. liis skill was j lately tested and proved suecessful, as | will tie seen tiy the following uecount. j This may seem Incredible, but we feel J some pleasure ill subst. ntiating its cor ! re.-tness, bv stating, that we were an j eye witness to the tact. In addition to j ■which, after the bones and teeth had j been re-placed, we could discover not ; the least defect in the lady’s speech, j Tiie work was handsomely executed, j and confers great credit on Dr. Os-I BORN. "A Lady* while quite young, during \ a course of fever, had an immoderate j quantity of calomel administered to her —the consequence was. that the upper jaw being particularly affected, and ex foliated somewhat above the roof of the mouth, on each side, bringing away with it a part of the roof, and all the teeth forward of the molar tooth on each side,, (ten in number) with the ex ception of die two front incisures, which •were sustained by a small portion ofthe alveoli covered with gum in front, hav iiiij little or no support posteriorly. “These, with the lirst molar tooth on the right side, which wassupi or ted on ly bv the gum, have recently been re moved by Dr. Osborn, and die whole supplied viz: the jaw. a part of the roof, mid allllie teeth; the teeth being nil set into‘he jaw, in gold, on fine gold piv ots, —the whole supported and kept firmly in their place, by fine springs,” It is expected that I>R. Osborn will make a short professional \i.dt to Colum bus sometime in January next. The destruction of property l>v the bile gale on the Island of fit. Vincent, u at more than £2,000,000. The Fire King. —Monsieur Chabert the celebrated fire-eater, swallower of prussic acid, &c. and who created so great a sensasion in London, has late ly reached New York. He is said to be in possession of an infallible remedy for mineral, vegetable and animal poisons. ! W a would therelore advise him to visit | Georgia and South Carolina, in both of which States lie may turn his specific to good account, by restoring to reason many of our illustrious men who hav been bit tea by the snake nulbjicatiun and arc \ now tortured by its virus. He would be j well paid for Ins trouble, and might learn j much m the management of caloric from ; his patients,. who swallow ballot-boxes, j jury-boxes, cartouch boxes, muskets, bay onets, swords, camion, bomb-shells, can- | bage-trees, and rattlesnakes the dozen ! and yet, without apparent injury, vomit 1 floods of lire in ah sorts of weather. For further particulars Monsieur Chabert will ph-gse apply to the editors of the Mtlltdge vill Jbiirnul and Columbus Enquirer in Georgia or the Inteudant of Charleston and Governor Hamilton ol'South Carol t an. Mr. Niles, in a late number of his Reg- j ister, estimates that the various manufac tures of Baltimore creates a value of five millions of dollars per annum. One, j coach factory alone employs eighty, hands. 15,900 emigrants had arrived in the six western district of U pper Canada the present season, up to the 10th of Septein j her. It is now ascertained that there is no I election of Governor in Vermont. The Anti-Masonic candidate, has the highest j number of votes. The happiness of every man depends | more upon the state oThis own mind than ' upon anv one external circumstance; nay ■ more .thim upon all external things put together. The mind is but a barren soil; a soil which is so exhausted, and will produce ao crop, or only one, unless it be contin ually fertilized and enriched with foreign matter.
