NOTES AND EMENDATIONS to the Text of
Shakspeare’s plays, from the early manuscript correc
tions in a copy ot the Folio of 1632.
“It is notto’ be.doubted that in this volume a contribution
has been made to the clearness and accuracy of Shakspere’s
text, bv far the most important of any offered or attempted
since Shakspeare lived and wrote.” — London Examiner.
“Men have acquired reputation by a single emendation
of Shakspeare ; learned editors have plumed thern
selves exceedingly upon a tew successful hits; but here we
have a book that at one fell swoop knocks out a thousand
errors, for the most part so palpable when once pointed out
that no one can deny their existence, and substitutes emen
dationsso clear that we cannot hesitate to accept them.”—
