HOLLOWAY’S PILLS.
CURE OF A DISORDERED LIVER AND BAD
DIGESTION.
Copy of a letter from Mr R. W. Kirkus, Chemist,7 Prescot
street, Liverpool, dated 6th June, 1851.
To Prolessor Holloway :
Sir—Your pills and Oiminent have stood the highest on our
list of Proprietary Medicine* lor some years. A customer, to
whom i can refer for any enquiries, desires me to let you know
the particular of her case. She had been troubled for years
with a disordered liver and bad digestion. On the last occasion,
however, the virulence of the attack was so alaiming, and the
inflammation set in so severely, that doubts were entertained of
her not being able to bear up under it; fortunately she was in
duced to trv your Pills, and she informs me that after the first,
and each succeeding dose, had great relief. She continued to
take them, and although she used only three boxes she is now in
the enjoyment of perfect health. I could have sent you many
more cases, but the above, from the severity ot the attack, and
the speedv cure, I think speaks much in lavor ot your astonish
ing Pills.’ Signed \V. R. KIRKUS.

her case was considered hopeless. A friend prevailed upon her
to try Holloway’s celebrated Pills, which she consented to do,
and in an incredible short space of time they effected a perfect
cure.

This valuable med'cine, which has become celebrated for the

Scrofula and Cancer cured by Dr. Guysott’s Extract of Yellow
Dock and Sarsaparilla.
Rutledge, Granger county, Tenn., )
April 27, 1852. j
J. D. Park, Esq., Cincinnattl, O.—Dear Sir: It gives me great
satisfaction to add my testimony in favor of “Dr. Guysott’s Ex
tract of Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla,” to that of the numerous
and highly respectable persons who have been benefited by the
medicine.
My wile has been suffering for the space of nearly five years
with Scrofula and Cancer, which, I think, found its origin in the
derangements of the system peculiar to her sex, while in the
mean time she was under the care of the most eminent Physi
cians in this section of country, without deriving any material aid
from their prescriptions.
Upon the recommendation of Dr. Cockes, one of our physi
cians, who had seen the medicine used with happy effect, 1 ob
tained of your Agents here, “Jl/essrs. Rice & McFarland,” one
bottle of “Dr. Guysott's Extract of Yellow Dock and Sarsapa
rilla,” and as m v wife found relief from that bottle, 1 bought some
six bodies, which she has taken with the most astonishing bene
fit, for 1 am pleased to say it has entirely cured her, for she has
entirely recovered from her illness, and the Scrofula and Cancer
are cured sound and well. Accept my gratitude.
Respectfully, Michael Goldman.
Extract ofa letter from an extensive merchant in Plainfield,
Livingston county, Michigan.
Plainfield, Michigan, April 8, 1852.
Mr. John D. Park—Dear Sir: Dr. Guysott’s Yellow Dock and
Sarsaparilla is performing some astonishing cures iu this place.
A Mr. S. P. Strickland has just informed me that one of his chil
dren has been entirely cured ofa very severe case ol Scrofula by
the use of only one bottle. He had tried almost every thing that
the Doctors had prescribed, but all ol no avail, as the child con
tinued getting worse. The sores are now all healed up and the
child apparently well, which is justly ascribed to the use of the
Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla, [signed ] Yours, truly,

CHERBY PECTORAL
For Hie rapid Cure of
COUGHS, COLDS, HOARSENESS,
BRONCHITIS, WHOOPING-COUGH,
CROUP, ASTHMA, AND
CONSUMPTION.
iLOf all the numerous medicines extant, (and some of them val
uable) for the cure of pulmonary complaints, nothing has ever
beeu found which could compare in its effects with this prepara
tion. Others cu r e sometimes, but at all times and in all diseases
of the lungs and throat where medicine can give relief, this will
do it. It is pleasant to take, and perfectly safe in accordance
with the directions. We do not advertise for the information
of these who have tried it but those who have not. Families
that have known its value will not be without it, and by its time
ly use, they are secure from tho dangerous consequences of
Coughs and Colds which neglected, ripen into fatal consumption.
The Diploma of the Massachusetts Institute was awarded to
this preparation by .he Board of Judges in September 1847 ;
also, the medals of the three great Institutes of Art, in this coun
try; also the Diploma of the Ohio Institute at Cincinnati, has
been given to the Cherry Pectoral, by their Government in con
sideration of its extraordinary excellence and usefulness in cur
ing affections of the lungs and throat.
Read the following opinion founded on the long experience of
the eminent Physician of the port and city of
St. Johns, Muy 8, 1851.
Dr. J. C. Ayer: Five year’s trial of your Cherry Pectoral in my
practice, has proven what I foresaw frm its composition, must
be true, that it eradicates and cures the colds and coughs to
which we, in this section, are peculiarly liable.
I think its equal lias not yet been discovered, nor do I know
how a better remedy can be made for the distempers of the
throat and lungs. J. J. Burton, J\l. I)., F. F. S.
See what ithas done on a wasted constitution, not only in the
following cases, but a thousand more:
Sudbury, Jan. 24th, 1851.
Dr. Aver : In the month of July last I was attacked by a violent
diarrhoea it the mines of California. I returned to San Francis
co iu hope of receiving benefit from a change of climate aud diet.
My diarrhoea ceased, but was followed by a severe cough—and
much soreness. I finally started for home, but received no bene
fit from the voyage. My cough continued to grow worse, ard
when I arrived in New York, I was at once marked by my ac
quaintances as a victim ofconsumntioii. I must confess that I
saw no sufficient reason to’doubt what my friends all believed.
At this time I commenced taking vour truly invaluable medicine
with little expectation of deriving any benefit from its use. You
would not receive tiiese lines did I not regard it my duty to state
to the afflicted, through you, that my health, in the space of eight
months, is fully restored. 1 attribute it to the use of your Cher

William W t . Smith.
Washington, Pa., April 12,1848.
Fear sir: Feeling that I have been spared from a premature
grave, through your instrumentality by the providence of God, I
will take the liberty to express to you my gratitude.
A cough and the alarming sympt ms of consumption had re
duced me too low to leave me anything fike hone, when my
physician brought me abett'eof your “Pectoral.” It seemed to
afford immediate relief and now in a few weeks time lias restor

Sincerely wishing you every blessing,
