HOLLOWAY'S OINTMENT.
A MOST MIRACULOUS CURE OF BAD LEGS.
AFTER 43 YEARS’ SUFFERING.
Extract of a letter from Mr. William Galjnn, of <0 St.
Mary’s street, Weymouth, dated \sth May, 1851.
To Professor Holloway :
Sir: At theagt of eighteen my wife (who is now sixty one)
caught a violent cold, which settled in her legs, and ever since that
time they have been more or less sore, and greatly inflamed.
Her agonies were distracting, and for months together she was
deprived entirely of rest and sleep. Every remedy that medical
men advised was tried, but without effect; her health suffered
severely, and the state of her legs was terrible. 1 had often read
your advertisements, and advised her to try your Pills and Oint
ment ; and,as a last resource, after every other remedy had prov
ed useless, she consented to do so. She commenced six weeks
ago, and strange to relate, is now in good health. Her legs are
painless, without seam or scar, and her sleep sound and undis
turbed. Could you have witnessed the sufferings of my wife
during the last forty three years, and contrast them with her pre
sent enjoyment of health, you would indeed feel delighted in
having been the means of so greatly alleviating the sufferings of
a fellow creature. (.Signed) Wh. Galvin.
A PERSON 70 YEARS OF AGE CURED OF A BAD
LEG, OF THIRTY YEARS STANDING.
Copy of a letter from Mr. William Abbs, Builder (if Gas
Ovens, of Rushcliffe, near Huddersfield, dated May
31 st, 1851.
To Professor Holloway :
Sir : I suffered for a period of thirty years from a bad leg, the
result of two or three different accidents at Gas Works ; accom
panied by scorbutic systoms. 1 had recourse to a variety of
medical advice, without deriving any benefit, and waseventold
that the leg must be amputated, yet, in opposition to that opinion,
your Pills and Ointment have effected a complete cure in so short
a time, that lew who had not witnessed it would credit the fact.
(Signed) William Abbs.
The truth of this statement can be verified by Air W.P. Eng
land, Chemist, thirteen .Market street, Huddersfield.
A DREADFUL BAD BREAST CURED IN ONE
MONTH.
Extract of a let ter from Mr. Frederick Turner, of Fen
hurst, Kent, dated December 13 th, 1850.
To Professor Holloway :
Dear Sir: JV/y wile had suffered from Bad Breasts for more than
six months, and during the whole period had the bestmedica
attendance, but all to no use. Having before healed an awful
wound in my own leg by your unrivalled medicine, I determined
again to use your Pills and Ointment, and therefore gave them a
trial in her case, and fortunate it w si did so, for in less than a
month a perfect cure was effected, and the benefit that various
other branches of my family havederived from the r use is really
astonishing. 1 now strongly recommend them to ail my friends.
(Signed) Frederick Turner.

Obstinate Cutaneous Eruptions, Pimples or Pustules on the

i Stubborn Ulcers, Syphilitic Disorders, Lumbago, Spinal Com
plaints. and-all diseases arising from m injudicious use of Mer
cury, Imprudence in Life, or Impurity of the Blood.
This valuable medicine, which has become celebrated for the
number of extraordinary cures effected through its agency, has
induced the proprietors, at the urgent request of their friends, to
j offer it to the public, which they do with the utmost confidence
i in its virtues and wonderful curative properties. The following
certificates, selected from a large number, are, however, stronger
| testimony than the mete word of the proprietors; and are all
from gentlemen well known in their localities, and of the highest
: respectability, many of them now residing in the city ofßich
j mond, Virginia.
F. Boyden, Esq., of the Exchange Hotel, Richmond, known
I every where, says he has seen the medicine called Carter’s Span
| isn Mixture administered in over a hundred cases, in nearly all
; the diseases for which it is recommended, with the most aston
ishingly good results. He says it is the most extraordinary med-
I cine he has ever seen.
Auue and Fever —Great Cure —I hereby certify, that for
three years I had Ague and Fever ofthe most violent description.
| 1 had several physicians, took large quantities of Quinine, Mer
i cury, and I believe all the Tonics advertised, but all without any
j permanent relief. At last I tried Carter’s Spanish Mixture, two
bottles of w'hich effectually cured me, and I am happy to say I
have had neither chills nor fevers since. I consider it the best
Tonic in the world, and the only medicine that ever reached my
case. Beaver Dam, near Richmond. Va. John Longdkn. ’
C. R. Luck, Esq., now in the city of Richmond, and lor many
years in the Post Office : has such confidence in the astonishing
efficacy of Carter’s Spanish Mixture, that hehas bought upwards
of 50 bottles, which he has given away to the afflicted. Mr.
i Luck says he has never known it to fail when taken according
I to directions.
j Dr. Minge, a practising physician, and formerly of the City
j Hotel, in the city of Richmond, says he has witnessed in a num
ber of instances the effects of Carter’s Spanish Mixture which
were most truly surprising. He says in a case of consumption
dependent on the liver, the good effects were wonderful indeed.
Samuel M. Drinker, ofthe firm of Drinker & Morris, Rich
j mond, was cured of Liver complaint of 8 years standing, by the
: use of two bottles of Carter’s Spanish Mixture-
Grkat cure of Scrofula. —The editorsof the Richmond Re
publican bad a servant employed in their press room, cured of
violent Scrofula, combined with Rheumatism, which entirely
disabled him from work. Two bottles of Carter’s Spanish Mix
ture made a perfect cure of him, and the editors, in a public no
tice say they ‘•cheerfully recommend it to all who arc afflicted
with any disease ofthe blood.”
Still another cure of Scrofula.—l had a very valuable
boy cured of Scrolula by Carter’s Spanish Mixture. 1 consider
it a truly valuable medicine. James M. Taylor, conductor on the
R. F. &. P. R. R. Cos., Richmond, Va.
Salt Reum of 20ykars standing Cured—Mr John Ihomp
son residing in the city of Richmond, was cured by three bottles
of Carter’s Spanish Mixture, of Salt Rheum, which he had nearly
20 years, and which all the physicians of the city could not cure.
Mr. Thompson is a well known merchant in thecityot Richmond,
and his cure is most remarkable.
WM. A. Matthews, of Richmond. Va , had a servant cured of
Syphillis in the worst form, by Carter’s Spanish Mi tore. He
says he cheerfully recommends it, and considers it an invaluable
medicine.
Richard E. West, of Richmond, was cured of Scrofula, and
what physicians called confirmed consumption, by three bottles
of Carter's Spanish Mixture.
Edwin Burton, Commissioner of Revenue, says he has seen
the goed effects of Carter’s Spanish Mixture in a number of Sy
philitic cases, and says it is a perfect cure for that hori ible disease.
Wm. G. Harwood, of Richmond, Va., cured of Old Sores and
Ulcers which disabled him from walking. Took a few bottles
of Carter's Spanish Mixture, and was enabled to walk without a

HOLLOWAY’S PILLS.
CURE OF A DISORDERED LIVER AND BAD
DIGESTION.
Copy of a letter from Mr R. W. Kirkus, Chemist, / Prescot
street, Liverpool, dated 6th June, 1851.
To Professor Holloway :
Sir—Your pills and Oin.merit have stood the highest on our
list of Proprietary Medicines for some years. A customer, to
whom I can refer for any enquiries, desires me to let you know
the particulars of her case. She had been troubled for years
with a disordered liver and bad digestion. On the last occasion,
however, the virulence of the attack was so alarming, and the
inflammation selin so severely, that doubts were entertained of
her not being able to bearup under it ; fortunately she was in
duced to try your Pills, and she informs me that after the first,
and each succeeding dose, had great relief. She continued to
take them, and although she used only three boxes she is nftw in
the enjoyment of perfect health. 1 could have sent you many
more cases, but the above, trom the severity of the attack, and
the speedy cure, I think speaks much in favor ol your astonish

jDounded by no geographical lines, the reputation of Barry’s
J Tricopherous pervades the Union. The sales ofthe a'rti
cle of late years have increased in a ratio that almost exceeds
belief. Professor Harry, after a careful examination of his sales’
book, finds that the number of bottles delivered to order, in
quantities of from a half gross upward, during the year 1852,
was within a trifle of 950,000.
It is unnecessary to present at length the evidence ofthe won
derful properties ol the Tricopherous, when the publicliave fur
nished such an endorsement as this. The cheapness ofthe article i
and the explanations given of its chemical action upon the hair, j
the scalp, and in all cases of superficial irritation, first recoin- j
mended it to the attention of the people. This was all that the
inventor desired. Every bottle advertised itself. The effects of
the fluid exceeded expectation. It acted like a charm. The
Indies would not be without it. Country dealears in every sec
tion of the United States found they must have it ; and thus
was built up a wholesale trade of an extent hitherto unheard ot
as regards articles of this kind. The highest point has not yet
been reached, and it is believed the sales this year will be a
million and a half of bottles.
