HOLLOWAY'S OINTMENT.
A MOST MIRACULOUS CURE OF BAD LEGS.
AFTER 43 YEARS’ SUFFERING.
Extract of a letter from Mr. William Galpin, of 70 St.
Mary’s street, Weymouth, dated 15 th May, 1851.
To Professor Holloway :
Sir: Attheagi of eighteen my wife (who is now sixty one)
caught a violent cold, which settled in her legs, and ever since that
time they have been more or less sore, and greatly inflamed.
Her agonies were distracting, and for months together she was
deprived entirely of rest and sleep. Every remedy that medical
men advised was tried, but without effect: her health suffered
severely, and the state of her legs was terrible. I had often read
your advertisements, and advised her to try your Pills and Oint
ment ; and,as a last resource, after every other remedy had prov
ed useless, she consented to do so. She commenced six weeks
ago, and strange to relate, is now in good health. Her legs are
painless, without seam or scar, and her sleep sound and undis
turbed. Could you have witnessed the sufferings of my wife
during the last forty three years, and contrast them with her pro
sent enjoyment of health, you would indeed feel delighted in
having’ been the means of so greatly alleviating the sufferings oi
a fellow creature. (.signed) Wn. Galpin.
1 A PERSON 70 YEARS OF AGE CURED OF A BAD
LEG, OF THIRTY YEARS STANDING.
Copy of a letter from Mr. William Abbs, Builder of Gas
Ovens, of Rushcliffe, near Huddersfield, dated May
dlst, 1851.
To Professor Holloway :
Bir : 1 suffered for a period of thirty years from a bad leg, the
result of two or three different accidents*at Gas Works ; accom
panied by scorbutic systoms. 1 had recourse to a variety of
medical advice, without deriving any benefit, and was even told
that the leg must be amputated, yet, in opposition to that opinion,
your Pills and Ointment have effected a complete cure in so short
a time, that tew Who had not witnessed it would credit the fact.
(Signed) William Abbs.
The truth of this statement can be verified by Mr W.P. Eng
land, Chemist, thirteen Jl/arket street, Huddersfield.
A DREADFUL BAD BREAST CURED IN ONE
MONTH.
Extract of a letter from Mr. Frederick Turner, of Fen
hurst, Kent, dated December 13 th, 1850.
To Professor Holloway :
Dear Sir: A/v wile had suffered from Bad Breasts for more than
six months, and during the wh>le period had the best medica
attendance, but all to no use. Having before healed an awful
wound in my own leg by your unrivalled medicine, I determined
again to use your Pills and Ointment, and therefore gave them a
trial in her case, and fortunate it w si did so, for in less than a
month a perfect cure was effected, and the benefit that various
other branches of my family have derived from the r use is really
astonishing. I now strongly recommend th. in to all my friends.

This valuable medicine, w hich has become celebrated for the
I number of extraordinary cures effected through its agency, has
I induced the proprietors’ at the urgent request of their friends, to
| offer it to the public, which they do with the utmost confidence
i in its virtues and wonderful curative properties. The following
| certificates, selected from a large number, are, however, stronger
■ testimony than the mere word of the proprietors; and are all
j from gentlemen well know nin their localities, and of the highest
i respectability, many of them now residing in the city of Rich
mond, Virginia.
F. Boydkn, Esq., of the Exchange Hotel, Richmond, known
every where, says he has seen the medicine called Carter’s Span
isn Mixture administered in over a hundred cases, in nearly all
the diseases for which it is recommended, with the most aston
ishingly good results. He says it is the most extraordinary med
cine lie has ever seen.
Ague and Fkver — Great Cure —I hereby certify, that for
three years l had Ague and Fever of the most violent description.
I had several physicians, took large quantities of Quinine, Mer
cury, and I believe all the Tonics advertised, but all withoutany
permanent relief. At last I tried Carter’s Spanish Mixture, two
bottles of which effectually cured me, and I am happy to say I
have had neither chills nor fevers since. I consider it the beat

1 case. Beaver Dam, near Richmond. Va. John Longden.
G. B. Luck, Esq., now in the city of Richmond, and tor many
years in the Post Office: has such confidence in the astonishing
j efficacy of Carter’s Spanish Mixture, that hehas bought upwards

Luck says he has never known it to fail when taken according
| to directions.
Dr. Minos, a practising physician, and formerly of the City
Hotel , in the city of Richmond, says he has witnessed in a num
ber of instances’the effects of Carter’s Spanish Mixture which
were most truly surprising. He says in a case of consumption
dependent on the liver, the good effects were wonderful indeed.
Samuel M. Drinker, of the firm of Drinker k Morris, Rich

use of two bottles of Curler’s Spanish Mixture.
Great cure of Scrofula. —The editorsofthe Richmond Re

violent Scrofula, combined with Rheumatism, which entirely
disabled him from work. Two bottles of Carter's Spanish Mix
ture made a perfect cure of him. and the editors, in a public no
tice say they ‘‘cheerfully recommend it to all who are afflicted
with any disease of the blood.”
Still another cure of Scrofula. — I had a very valuable
boy cured of Scrolula by Carter's Span’s!) Mixture. I consider
it a truly valuable medicine. James M. Tavlor, conductor on the

of Carter's Spanish Mixture, of Salt Rheum, which he had nearly

Mr. Thompson is a well known merchantin the city of Richmond,
and his cure is most remarkabie.
Wm. A. Matthews, of Richmond. Va, had a servant cured of
Syphilis in the worst form, by Carter's Spanish Mi ture. He
says he cheerfully recommends it, and considers it an invaluable
medicine.
Richard F.. Wf.st, of Richmond, was cured of Scrofula, and
what physicians called confirmed consumption, by three bottles
of Carter's Spanish Mixture.
Edwin Burton. Commissioner of Revenue, says he has seen
the good effects ofCarter's Spanish Mixture in a number of Sy

CURE OF A DISORDERED LIVER AND BAD

Copy of a letter from Mr 11. W. Kirkus, Chemist, 7 Preseot

To Professor Holloway : ....
Sir—Your pills and Ointment have stood the highest on our
list of Proprietary Medicines for some years. A customer, to
whom I can refer for any enquiries, desires me to let you know
the particulars of her case. Bhe had been troubled lor years
with a disordered liver and bad digestion. On the hist occasion,
however, the virulence of the attack was so alarming, and the
inflammation setin so severely, that doubts were entertained ot
her not being able to bear up under it; fortunately she was in
duced to trv vour Pills, and she informs me that alter the first,
and each succeeding dose, had great relief. She continued to
take them, ami although she used only three boxes she is now in
the enjovnient of perfect health. 1 could have sent you many
more cases, hut the above, from the severity ot the attack, and
the speedy cure, I think speaks much in favor of your astonish

OR MEDICATED COMPOUND,
For Beautifying, Curling, Preserving, Restoring and
Strengthening the Hair. Relieving Diseases of
the Shin, Curing Rheumatic Pains, and
Healing External Wounds.
XJounded by no geographical lines, the reputation of Barry’s
fj Tricopherous pervades the Union. The sales of the arti
cle of late years have increased in :t ratio that almost exceeds
belief. Professor Berry, after a careful examination of his sales’
book, finds that the number of bottles delivered to order, in
quantities of irotn a half gross upward, during the year 1852,
was within a trifle of 950,000.
It is unnecessary to present at length the evidence of the won
derful properties ot the Tricopherous, when the public have fur
uished such an endorsement as this. The cheapness of the article
and the explanations given of its chemical action upon the hair,
the scalp, and in all cases of superficial irritation, first recom
mended it to the attention of the people. This was all that the
inventor desired. Every bottle advertised itself. The effects o
the fluid exceeded expectation. It acted like a charm. The
ladies would not be without it. Country dealears iu every sec
tion of the United States fouud they must have it ; and thus
was built up & wholesale trade ot an extent hitherto unheard ot
as regards articles of this kind. The highest point has not yet
been reached, and it is believed the sales this year will be a
