credulity itself trnm questioning its efficacy. In all cases
of disease of the stomach, whether acute or chronic, it may

influence. Dyspepsia, heartburn, loss of appetite, nausea,
nervous tremors, relaxation and debility, &c , are relieved
by the Bitters in a very short space of time; and a perse

BRITISH PERIODICALS.
EARLY COPIES SECURED.
LEONARD SCOTT & CO., New York, continue to

1. The London Quarterly (Conservative)
2. The Edinburgh Review (Whig)
3. The North British Review (Free Church.)
4. The Westminister Review (Liberal.)
5. Blackwood’s Edinburgh Magazine (Tory.)
The present critical state of European affairs will render
these publicationsunasually interesting during the forthcom
ing year. They will occupy a middle ground between the
hastily written new r s items, crude speculations, and Hying
rumors of the daily Journal and the ponderous Tome.'of the
future historian, written after the living interest and excite
ment of the great political events of the time shall have
fiassed way. It is to these Periodicals that readers niu.-t
ook for the only really intelligible and reliable history of
current events, and as such, in addition to their well estab
lished literary, scientific, and theological character, we urge
then* upon the consideration of the reading public.
23P* Arrangements are now permanently made for the
receipt of EARLY SHEETS from the Brittish Publish
ers, by which we are enabled to place ALL OUR RE

furnish the Periodicals at tiie same low rates as heretofore,

A Merry Christmas to you all,
The old, the young, the great and sma 1.
Christmas—New Years—Election—Success of the No
Some Things—Christmas Gifts—Sevastopol taken—
Not by WOODBRIDGE, as he takes PICTURES.
Have you noticed those PICTURES of his hanging
in Purple’s door? If not, go and look, and mark them
well. He challenges criticism —Georgia is ahead, and
WOODBRIDGF is too!
Pictures most rare ol Beauty’s radiant lace.
With life like figure and its case of grace;
Perfected eye—truth's magic light ot life—
l’lea-ingin infant and the much lov’d wife.
These, and all charms o’er which affection weeps,
When sad bereavement, hearts in sorrow steeps:
Portrayed with excellence of Artutli skill,
Are had at Woodbtidues’—go w here you will.
What more suitable present for those we love, than one
of Woodbridge’s Pictures—euc fused in one of his ele
gant cases or frames, ot which he has a great variety? What
can be more appropriate?
