The Democracy of Pennsylvania.
The Democrats of Philadelphia celebrated Independence
Day in Independences Square. The meeting, says The
National Argus, was called to order by the Hon. John
Cadwallader, upon whose motion Geo. 11. Martin, Esq.,
was called to theOnair, and a large nuinoer ot assisting of*
ficert) appointed. The Declaration of Independence was
read by Richardson L. Wright, Esq , and an eloquent and
fitting oration was delivered by Ignatius Donnelly. Esq
The Committee of arrangements ‘then offered a series of
resolutions which were adopted. Among them is the fol
lowing :
Resolved,l hat the States ot the. Union and our territorial
dependencies arc not less entitled to exemption from inter
ference of the federal Government in their internal con*
cerne, than the Colonies who declared their independence
on the 4th o! July, 1776. were entitled to exemption from
risea interference of the Government of England,
i he States, under the Constitutional compact, are distinct
and independent sovereignties except in their iederai rela
tions alone; and the spirit ot this compact, according to
Democratic principles, should be carried into effect in or
ganizing temporary dependent governments for the protec
tion ot settlers in our territorial domain. We recognize,
tnereiore, with unqualified approbation, as sound, practical
expositions ot this principle, the. Congressional enactments
ot the year 1050, and the subsequent act organizing territo”
tint governments tor Kansas and Nebraska.
Resolved, 1 hat the Democratic party in Pennsylvania
have wisely profited by the lessons of last year’s experi
ence, and in expelling from their ranks unworthy profess
ing members whose hidden treachery had been the cause
cf detection and desertion, have laid the foundation of a
pure organization, as the means of restoring their power
on its former stable looting.
Resolved, That we find aboundant cause for con grata
lation in recent proofs of the progressive restoration ot this
power, w tthin Jess than a year we have witnessed a
change in our favor in our owu city of more than seven
thousand votes, a caange through which we may, with
predict in the next enduing vote, a complete by
ei throw ot the present corrupt, imbecile and intolerant
municipal government. Jn the meantime, our beloved sis

Henry Clay said not. Tho following is an extract from

OBITUARY.
1 Died, at his residence, near Blue Spring, Barbour eouu- *
ty, Alabama, on Thursday the s;hinst., of Apoplexy, Capt.
S. R. Cannon, in the 69th year ot his age.
Capt. Cannon was bom in Barnwell I district,S. G. where
he spent the first years ot his iife and where the sad tidings
of his death will awaken the sincere regret ot many a friend
and relative who cherish an affectionate recollection of his
benevolent ? and admirable character. Death, however,
gave him no warning of his coming. He had just risen
from the dinner table, with his family and a couple of
friends who called in and was conversing with them in the
piazza, with his accustomed joviality, when suddenly his
head dtooped upon his bosom and in a moment his spirit
had fled! Thus have we lost an upright citizen, an open
hearted and hospitable iriend, a man universally esteemed
for the kindness of his natureaud the straight-forward in
tegrity of his character.

Dkaß Sir:—l aead you tnis to certify to yon that vour Its.
tract of Yellow bock and Sarsaparilla has performed one oi
the most vonderfui cures on me that has ever been effected on
m u.
I have been tnii.ctcd for forty ..yean* with eruptions ou nay ,
legs and feet; in IB4S they got so bad that 1 • nad to go on j
crutches, and in 1849 1 had one leg amputated above the knee.
In about nine months after my other leg (broke out in largo ;
eatiugaud running sores from* my knee to my loot,,and dss- !
charged a great deal of offensive matter. My groin a!co oroke !
out in large biles, which discharged much offensive matter.and
at toe same time my left hand broke out in large running v .res •
nearly to my elbow.
The misery than have suffered for ths last two years I can
not describe to you. 1 was in such agony that 1 never rested
day or night.
In October last my son brought me one ol your bottle wrap- ;
pers; I read it, and found record of some‘wonderful cures j
performed by your “Extract of Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla” i
I sent und got two bottles of it. und r commenced taking it. In
two weeks, to my great astonishment, my eorec all beer.me ea
sy, and I could sleep all night, e thing l had not done for two i
years - When I had taken six bottles! my sores had nearly all i
heui*wl. My sores got well a; if by enchantment. I have now !
used in all eight bottles oi ymr “Extract of Yellow Do<*fc and I
Sarsapar.lla,” and now consider myself well.
I entreat all of the afßcited to try this medicine, for I believt !
it will cure any known disease in the world. Lay aside all i
and just try it, and proclaim fits tp-cat worth to |
suffering mankind and entreat them to take it, for it will euro j
them.
•Wy ease is well known in * large portion of South C arolina,
Georgia and Alabun. and if any should doubt the
cure, llnfvite them to?call on to.-, and l will ebow them the
