The New Haven Register says that the rapid
growth of Episcopacy in N. England is in a great degree
owing to the fact that the church avoids the discussion
of all extraneous matter and is more noted for preach,
jng the Gospel according to St. Paul, than that of Kan
fcas and Nebraska.

Worms! Worms! —Various theories have been started
relative to the origin of intestinal worms, and yet
the question is still a vexed one among medical authori
ties. Ol one fact, however, all are informed, and in which
all agree—the fatal nature of the influence they exert on
children. At this season of the year, the attacks ol worms
■are most frequent as well as most dangerous. We take
great pleasure in directing the attention of parents to the
Vermifuge of Dr. M’Lane. It is one of the most extraor
dinary medicines ever introduced to the public, and has
never failed of success when tried.
Purchasers will please be careiui to ask for DR. M’LANE’S
CELEBRATED VERMIFUGE, ancl take none else. All oilier
Vermifuges, iu comparison, are worthless. Dr. M’Lane’s gen

Dear Sir: —l take the present opportunity ot bearing
testimony to the medical qualities of your Pulmonic Med
icine. The Rev. B. B. Barker had a cough for about
three or lour weeks. It not only was distressing to him
self, but such was the severity of the paroxysms that all
around him sympatnised with him. I advised him to try
your Compound Syrup ot Wild Cherry and Wood Nap
ilia. He did so, and took one bottle, and it stopped tho
cough almost immediately, and has not since returned, nor
has he had any symptoms ot it since.
1 have usod many cough medicines, and have tried and
seen used all the balsams and nostrums of the present day,
and I vcnly believe that yours is superior to them all.

FRIENDS. —Reader, if you have a valued friend, in

prize asa precious memorial your Ambrotype or Daguer

TO ALL.—How many have lost a Father, a Mother, a

and have not even the shadow of a resemblance to look
upon. Alter the separation, some little toy or a trifling ar

BROWN’S
WASHING MACHINE.
THE Inventor in introducing his new Rotary Washing Ma
chine to the notics of the public, does so with the confi
dence that in all cases where a fair trial is given, they will be,
as they have been by those who have used them, pronounced
to be the best Machine lor washing now iu use. and capable
of performing more work in far less time and with far less
damage to the clothes than any other Washing Machine now
made.
lie claims for this Machine, that it will cleanse the clothes
from dirt In 15 to SO minutes and leave them entirely clean,
ready for boiling and rinsing.
g}!t will thoroughly rinse clothes in from 5 to 10 mi mites
It will do an ordinary day’s washing in an hour, and dors
not wear the clothes more than one tenth as much as when wash
ed by hand.
It is adapted to washing trorn the finest muslins to the coar
sest cloths, Blanke's and Carpets.
It can be worked by women or even a 12 year okl boy, and
is so simple in its constructum that almost any one can repair
it—if it should ever need it—and will, with ordinary care,
last from five to ten yeais.
EF” One of the great merits of this Machine in. in addi
tion to the facility >n washing, is that the clothes are not worn
out by washing. By the ordinary process ol washing, clothes
are more injured than by wearing. This advantage, together
witli the fact that it will do ten limes the work of hand labor,
should induce every Hotel, Boarding House, and family to
have one.
These Machines are sold for Cash only, delivered at our shop
prico sl3. Directions for using sent with every Machine.
