BUSINESS MAN SEES
GOOD YEAR FOR FARMERS
Atlanta, August 4.—Returning
from an extended trip, Emmett Small,
president of the Georgia Casualty
Co., of Atlanta, told the correspond
ent for this newspaper today that
business conditions were good every
where and that prosperity was un
questionably on the way. The com
pany which Mr. Small heads does
business in 40 states and his trip
took him in many sections.
“The payrolls of the country show
absolutely no diminution and there
is a noticeable absence of unemploy
ment everywhere,” Mr. Small said.
Crop conditions, orchard, cereal and
cotton, are particularly good and
those in process of being marketed
now are bringing good prices. The
growing crops yet to be marketed
are in a flourishing condition. Pros
pects clearly indicate that returns
this year will prove profitable to the
farmer.”
Mr. Small expressed _the opinion
that 1925 would be a banner year for
Georgia farmers. He looks for a sub
stantial enhancement in Georgia
farms in view of the fact that many
people are coming south. He said
that one of the prime needs of the
state at the present time is hard
surface highways traversing the
principal sections of the state.
“Good roads and an equitable re
vision of Georgia’s tax laws will
bring untold wealth to this state, the
distribution of which will be felt
alike both in the rural and city dis
tricts,” he said.
