VOLUME IV. Sale of Lands GEORGlA—Wilkinson County: Under and by virtue of a pow er of sale contained in a certain deed to secure debt, executed by Sami. Evans Sons &Co.,- to the Merchants & Farmers Bank, and recorded in the Clerk’s Office of Wilkinson Superior Court in Deed Book 38, pages 648-9-50, thg un dersigned will sell at public out cry, to the highest bidder, for for cash, before the court house door of Wilkinson county, within the legal hours of sale, on the 7th day of November, 1925, the fol lowing described property, to wit: Ist. Lot or parcel of land, known as the W. H. Manderson place, described as follows: ' All those two certain tracts or parcels of land described as fol lowe: First tract; All that tract or parcel of land situate, lying and being in-the Ramah District, Wilkinson county, Georgia, being a part of Lot No. 66, in the Fifth land District’ of said county, on i the South of Big comm’r Creek, containing seventy-five acres 75 more or less, and bounded as fol lows: On the North by Big com missioner creek; on the East by lands of M. N. Pierce and Babe Holoman: on the South by lands ofV. P. Jackson; and on the West by lands of V. P. Jackson; said lands being lands originally deeded by Mrs. Martha Hudson to W. A. Jones, said deed being re corded in Book N, page 598, the Clerk’s Office Wilkinson superior Court. Second tract: All that tract or parcel of land situate, lying and -being in said State, county and District, containing forty-five 45 acres, more or less, with all im provements thereon, and bound ed as follows: On the North by aforesaid tract of Hudson land: on the East by lands of m. n» Pace and Babe Holoman; and on the South and West by lands of V.P. F. snow Place, described as follows: All that tract or parcel of land situate, lying and being in Wilk inson County, Ga., Bloodworth District, known as the Frances and H. T. Snow Place, containing fifty 50 acres, more or less, and being the same land on which Mrs. M. F. snow resided on Dec ember 13,1906: said lan^ bound ed on the North by J. T. Davis; on the East by Mrs. Temples; on the South by J. T. Davis: and on the West by Dave Holloman. This land being the same land conveyed to saml. Evans sons & Co., by J. F. Bell, as evidenced by deed recorded in Clerk’s of fice Wilkinson Superior Court in Book 17, page 638. Said sale is made for the pur pose of paying ten certain prom issory notes, eight of said notes, the princiapal and interest qf which aggregate $40,886.6L be ing dated October 2T, 1922, near ing interest from maturity at the rate of eight per cent per an num, and two of said notes, the two said notes, the principal and interesi of which aggregate $5,- 582.20, being dated July 9, 1924, and one of them due September 7, 1924, and bearing interest from date and the other due Jan uary 9, 1925, and bearing interest from October 15, 1924: all of said notes being signed by the said Saml. Evans Sons & Co., and pay able to the said Merchants and Farmers Bank, and also for the purpose of paying all other in debtedness due to said bank by said Saml. Evans Sons & Co., which includes taxes and insur ance premiums, paid by the bank, aggregating the sum of $924.15. IKWINTON, GA., THURSDAY, OCTOBER 15, 1925. Atlanta, Ga.—Children's Day at the tenth annual Southeastern Fair in At lanta will be observed Monday, Oc tober 12, and all of the Atlanta pub lic and Fulton county school* have already declared October 12 as a holi day, in order that the children may vis it the Fair at Lake Wood. Not only are th* Atlanta and Ful ton county schools declaring a holi day, but many of the adjoining coun ties have joined the local authorities, and will send their students here In a body on Monday, October 12. Every county in th* Stet* I* urged to de clare Monday, October 12, as a holi day in order that the Children's Day will have its largest attendance pos sible. All of the colleges and pri vate schools over the State are also urged to dose up on Children’s Day and be at Lakewood In a body. Every Student In the State of Geor gia will be given a coupon, and, when presented at the Southeastern Fair gates Monday, October 12, will be ad mitted to the grounds for only 15 SPECTACULAR FIREWORKS OURh£ WEEK OF FAIR ——— Atlant*, Ga.--As a fitting climax to the day’s entertainment at the tenth annual Southeastern Fair in Atlanta. October 8 to 17, a monster fireworks program will be fired every night dur ing th* last week of. th* 10-day pro gram. The first three nights of the Fair will be devoted to a society horse show; and, starting Monday night, Oc tober 12, following the children’s day program, the fireworks will be a fea ture every remaining night The Mon- The total amount of indebted ness due by said Sami. Evans Sons & Co., to said bank, being $47,392.96. The above described property will be sold, first, by the tract or parcel, and, second, as a whole. The proceeds of said sale will be applied, first, to the payment of said notes, including principal and interest to date of sale, and the payment of taxes and insur ance premiums, including princi pal, interest and costs to date of sale, and to the payment of all other indebtedness due by the said Sami. The program tor Children's Day looms as one of the most Interesting of the entire Fair, and every effort will be made to-make It a gala occa sion for the young folks, one long to be remembered in the minds of Geor gia students. In addition to the regular exhibits, the band concerts, the great Midway attractions, the Grand Circuit harness racing and other amusements, there will be a monster fireworks program across the lake from the grandstand at 9 o’clock. Monday night will be the first night for the fireworks pro gram, and an unusually good showing Is being planned. The fireworks will be over in plenty of ^ime for the kid dies to get home early, if necessary I Every railroad leading into Atlanta will put on greatly reduced rates for the Fair in October, and there will be Special day rates along with anothei special excursion rate for more than one das» day night fireworks program will be a bit earlier, so that the kiddies can get home early, if necessary. The Newton Fireworks Company, of Chicago, again have the contract for erecting the designs, and special rep resentatives will be in Atlanta to plenty of time to prepare the new de signs that will be shown this year. Some of the best designs that wil be fired this year are the rockets, in cluding the weeping willow, th* Na tional Streamers, Peacock plumes floating festoons and parachutes There will also be prismatic foun tains,- repeating shells, mines anc stars, and serpents, with fiery geysers and many other noveltie*. A Grand Jury Presentments Wilkinson Superior Court We tne Grand Jury chosen sworn for October Term of Super ior Court of Wilkinson County for 1925, make the following rec omendations: Court House and jail: We find a nice, well kept Court House with the exception of one leak in roof which should be repaired. The jail in good sanitary condi tion and has one leak in roof which should be repaired. J. P. & N. P. Dockets, We find all these dockets in good shape with the exception of District Nos., 329 whose books were not presented. Pauper Farm; We find fifteen inmates well cared for, two mules, two cows and calv.es, eleven head of hqgs. Four hundred and fifty bushels of corn and two thousand* bundles of fodder. Convict Camp; We find the camp in good condition, all pris oners well cared for, seventeen mules in good condition, but some are old. One farm wagon in run ning condition, three ford trucks, two tractors, one in good condi tion, one ten ton tractor badly worn, five road gaders good shape four wheel scrapes fair condition, eight wheel scrapes for mules in good condition, harness in fair condition, three camp cars are in bad condition, two steel cages in good condition and twenty-one prisoners all well cared for. Lee’s Department Store 456 Cherry Street Macon, Ga. were examined by a certified public accountant up to June 30th 1925 and report of same is now on tile in book form in the Coun ty Commissioners office. We find that is now outstanding unpaid vouchers due to the County a mounting to $32,247.85 Appointments; We recommend that S. J. Dixon be reappointed N. P. ex off, J. P. of 330th Dis trict, G. M. &w. K. Stinson be appointed N. P. ex off J. P. 1245 th District G. M. we recomend that all Jurors and baliffs be paid $2.00 per day for the ensuing year and the sheriff be paid 50c a piece for serving subponeas be fore this Grand Jury convened. We do not approve of the Coun ty Commissioners purchasing the land that they bought for the poor farm as they already had one which wis sufficient, and if it had been necessary for them to purchased one we feel like they gave an extortion price for same. We have been informed that the present Poor Farm has an ex cellent bed of Kaolin on it, and recommend it not being sold un til it is thoroughly investigated. We have thoroughly investigat ed the lynching of the insane ne gro in the northern part of the County and were found to be done by parties unknown as far as we could find. We recommend that Mr. R. L.
