' $ There is no longer any doubt that the investment of
capital in South Georgia by autsiders has begun.
» Savannah, Albany, Valdosta, ThcgnasvlUe, Bainbridge,
/ Brunswick, Waycross and other Scuth G re;;; cities are
J reporting real estate sales to outsiders.
But it does not follow that if a flow of outside capital
is directed to South GGeorgia every city and every county
in this section of the State will profit equally
On thecontrary it is certain that some cities and some
counties will benefit more than others.
• Those cries and cmfnties which take the lead in at
tracting, outride nvcstmcnts will be hsoe that are most at
work for htemselves.
; No outsider cares to invest his- money in a city where
the cit'zzens are riot willing to work for their own best
interests, or in a County where the* farmers are indiffer

You would not care to purchase a half interest in a
store the proprietor of. which gave no attention to it and
never worked.for its success.
The same reasoning is made by outside investors. It

The city or the, county which is most at work for it
self will receivethelargest amount of this outside capital
now headed towards South Georgia.
By George Matthew Adama
I have always been afraid of promises, but ithas al
ways thrilled me to fulfill where made no promise to doso.
For, after all, the, greatest person to whom you can
make a promise is none other than your own self. And un
der nocorcumstances should you disappoint yourself.
Keep the agreement that you make with yourself.
Any man will trust another man who has proved that
he can trust himself.
We should always have secret agreements with our
selves to do certain important things from day to day.
And thest agreements should be kept to the letter. We
can’t handle an adversary until we have learned to handle
ourselves.
Make few or no promises.
I came across a man recently who told me of a very
successful business man—a man who has amassed mil
’ions And this is what my friend told me was what made
that success large possible. He said that this builder al
ways put down in b’ack and white exactly what he sold
'or a consideration and that the buyer knew exactly what
he was getting. He made no promise merely in order to
close a sale.
If you do make a promise, be sure that you keep it.
I know cf a man who pledged to himself that he
would do certain thu gs for a period cf ten years. And he
is following out that pledge, to the letter. And in all this
man does, yousee a sureness and definiteness of action
that is absent in mest workers.
When Columbus sailed from the shores of Spain, he
carried a secret promise in his heart.
There is something very strong about the man who
carries promises in his heart and who weans to keep them.
