Standridge
Reunion To Be
Held Sept. 19-20
The 12th annual Standridge
National Family reunion will be
held Friday and Saturday Sept.
19-20 at the Holiday Inn, 400 East
Butler Parkway Gaineville.
Sponsored by the Standridge
National Family Historical
Society the event will draw from
more than 600 descendants of
a number of interrelated colo
nial families who trace their roots
back to Maryland before 1775.
The family lived in Rowan
County NC, until the American
Revolution, then moved to
Oconee County, SC, from where
they spread out across Franklin,
Habersham, Hall, White, Dawson
and Lumpkin counties.
The reunion will include genea
logical classes, tours of historic
sites and a Saturday night salute
to military veterans. For infor

Elizabeth Roller And
David Varnedoe To Wed
Robert W. Roller Jr. and Elaine
Roller of Commerce announce
the engagement and forthcom
ing marriage of their daughter,
Elizabeth Linda Roller, to David
Stafford Varnedoe Jr„ Jefferson,
the son of David S. Varnedoe and
Mary Varnedoe of Hinesville.
The wedding is planned for 6
p.m. Saturday, July 12, at Athens
First Presbyterian Church,
Athens.
The bride is the granddaughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs. James
L. Johnston, formerly of Sautee-
Nacoochee; Marion Carter,
Columbus; and the late Sgt. 1st
Class Robert W. Roller Sr„ for
merly of Clover, VA.
Miss Roller is a graduate of
Commerce High School and
attended the University of West
Georgia, where she was a cheer
leader and a member of the Chi
Omega sorority.
She is a 2005 graduate of
North Georgia College and State
University with a dual degree in
early childhood education and
special education. She is a sec
ond grade teacher at East Jackson
Elementary School and is the head
cheerleading coach and an assis
tant track coach at East Jackson
Comprehensive High School.
The groom is the grandson
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lenieu
Carter and the late Mr. and Mrs.
Carl I. Varnedoe Sr„ all formerly
of Hinesville.
Mr. Varnedoe is a graduate of
Brad well Institute, Hinesville. He
graduated from Georgia College
and State University, where he
was a member of the Kappa
Sigma fraternity and earned a
bachelor’s of business administra
tion degree.
He is employed by Edward
Jones Investments as a financial
advisor. He is a Jefferson City
Council member and a board
member of the Boys and Girls
Club of Jackson County.
James Reunion Set This Saturday
All friends and relatives of the late Harvey and Martha James are
invited to a family reunion to be held at noon Saturday, June 21, at the
family life center of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Commerce.

Meeting times are at 8 p.m.

and Saturdays and at 6:45 p.m.
Sundays. Meetings consist of

Acworth.
She is a 2002 graduate of North
Cobb High School and is a gradu
ate of the University of Georgia.
She is employed by Devry
University as a recruiter.
The groom is the grandson of
Bobby W. and Mary Ellen Payne,
Douglasville; Billy Ruth Bearden,
Birmingham, AL, and the late
James Arthur Bearden Sr.
Mr. Bearden is a 2001 graduate
of Commerce High School and
is a graduate of the University of
Georgia. He is youth minister and
associate pastor of Salem Baptist
Church, Lexington.

Memorabilia From
Old Courthouse
The Jackson County historic
courthouse committee is look
ing for photos of the histor
ic courthouse and any origi
nal furnishings that could be
placed in the building after it is
restored.

willing to give back for the
county to use or display.
