PAGE 6A THE BANKS COUNTY NEWS • THE COMMERCE NEWS WEDNESDAY, MARCH 23, 2016 Crime/Public Safety Commerce Police Department arrests Commerce arrests Three arrested after disputes Officers of the Commerce Police Department arrested three people in the course of responding to a pair of domes tic incidents over the past week. On Tuesday, March 15, police responded to Ridgeway Apartments, Ridgeway Road, to an “unknown disturbance.” They wound up charging Trent Renard Bonds, 47, 51 River Mist Circle, Jefferson, with battery cruelty to children in the second degree, criminal trespass and a warrant for pro bation violation; and Michelle Lynne Underhile, 38, 645 Ridgeway Road, Commerce, on an unspecified warrant from Commerce. According to the incident report, Bonds got into an argument with Underhile over an alleged relationship she had with another man. The victim’s son heard Bonds yell ing and advised his mother to go into the bathroom for safety and the witness told Bonds to leave the residence, which he refused. Meanwhile, a neighbor heard the fight and went over to check on the welfare of Underhile, arriving in time to see Bonds holding Under- hile’s son in a headlock. At that point, Bonds left the scene, the others said. Police found Bonds at Northridge Medical Center, where his mother lives, and placed him under arrest “for his warrants out of the coun ty,” the report said. Bonds told police that he did not strike Underhile’s son, and claimed cuts to the man were self-in flicted. He also claimed that another man at the residence pointed a pistol at him. A 4year-old child was at the residence when the distur bance occurred. In the other case, police charged Jorge Reinaldo San chez, 18, 143 Minish Drive, Commerce, with battery and criminal trespass following a March 15 incident at that location. When police arrived, Sanchez said he and a woman argued over him not being allowed to have girls at the residence, but he said he did not become physical with the two women at the residence, although he said one of them threw a set of keys at him as he left. The women told a different version of the events. One of them said Sanchez became irate when she refused to let him use her vehicle. When he pushed the woman onto the bed and continued to yell at her, the other woman entered the fray. Seeing him make contact with the victim, the second woman said she slapped Sanchez on the face, whereupon Sanchez walked through the kitchen, knock ing over chairs, and went through the residence slam ming doors. The first woman called his parents, who live out of state, and told them he would have to leave, at which time Sanchez entered and took the phone. He became irate talking with his parents, exited the residence, and threw the phone at a vehicle, breaking it. Police responded at about 12:30 a.m. to a report of a “suspicious person,” a woman who had been dis charged two hours prior. A staff member told the officer that the woman had been seen going into rooms, rum maging through other peo ple’s belongings and stuff ing items down her shirt. The suspect “had put the items back at the time she was discovered, and the hospital staff did not want to pursue charges against” her,” the report said. The report indicated that police charged Rebecca Sue Griffin, no age avail able, of 638 Madison Street, Commerce, with disorderly conduct. It also said that her boy friend, who had been at the hospital, had a possible warrant from Elbert County but police were unable to locate him. At 7:47 the next morn ing, police were again sum moned to Northridge Medi cal Center where someone had stolen a 32-inch flat- screen TV from the wall in a waiting room, opened a window and exited with the TV. The hospital employee reporting the theft recalled the previous incident, but said there was no video footage of either Griffin or her boyfriend taking the TV. Other students took the scissors away from the student, and another teacher removed the boy and escorted him out of the room.
