All candidates seek ing election in Banks County will be invited. There will be no for mal speeches. Instead, those who attend will be able to meet one-on-one with candidates and ask them questions. “If you are not sure who to vote for in the upcoming election on May 24, then stop by,” said Gary Clark. “This is your opportunity to meet the candidates who are asking for your vote. Be an informed voter and know who you are voting for, have each candidate answer any questions and concerns you may have. Getting to know your candidates and why they are seeking political office is being an informed voter. An informed voter keeps them honest.” POLITICAL FORUM The Tea Party will hold a political forum at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, at Grove Level Church in Maysville where each candidate will be given the oppor tunity to give a short speech and answer spe cific questions. Yard sale to benefit local fire department The ladies’ auxiliary of the Homer Volunteer Fire Department will hold a yard sale on Sat urday, April 9, starting at 8 a.m., at the fire station. Proceeds will help support the fire depart ment. Officers scuffle with man at fire The Banks County Sheriff’s Office has taken a warrant for the arrest of a man who got into a scuffle with deputies at the scene of a fire. The warrant for Roy Lee Green is for the charge of obstruction of an officer. Banks County deputies respond ed to Shady Grove Road in refer ence to a house fire where Banks County Fire Department requested assistance. When deputies arrived around 8:33 p.m. Tuesday, they were met by the homeowner who stated that he had left earlier in the evening and returned to find the residence aflame. The homeowner also advised deputies that another man on the scene, who was a family member and who was described as intoxi cated, had been at the home when the fire started. Green then began verbally assaulting officers during their investigation. As deputies attempt ed to arrest Green, he began to resist and scuffle with deputies. Deputies then used a Taser, which showed no effect. As deputies struggled to gain control of Green, he resisted and failed to comply with commands given by officers. Finally, deputies and EMS per sonnel were able to control the subject enough to place handcuffs on Green. Green then began to show pos sible signs of smoke inhalation at which time Banks County EMS transported him to NEGA Medical Center where he was held for eval uation. Fuller is a DJ for proms, weddings, and other events. Missing juvenile found Thursday A runaway juvenile was found after an extensive search by law enforce ment officials last week. On March 31, the missing 15-year- old female was located on Hwy. 98 near 1-85 in good condition by a Department of Family and Children Services (DFACS) worker driving in the area. No injuries were reported and the missing female was checked by medical personnel. On March 29, the Maysville Police Department was contacted about a runaway juvenile. The juvenile was listed in the state and national sys tem as a runaway and the area was searched. A local ground search was conducted by the Maysville Police Department, Jackson County Sher iff’s Office, Jackson County Emer gency Management, Jackson County Rescue, Georgia Bureau of Investi gation, Georgia State Patrol, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Jackson County Dive Team and Jack- son County Department of Family and DFACS. Several private provider partners utilizing Air Drones were deployed during the ground search on March 30 and March 31. The Maysville PD and the GBI, along with DFACS, are investigating this incident. Rare Occurance-Nanny has quadruplets Journey Boswell, Maysville, has been raising goats most of his life. He’s seen a nanny have one, two or even three babies. He’s never experienced a nanny goat hav ing four babies or heard of it until recently. Pictured above is the new mom with her quadruplets, three girls and one baby boy. The new additions bring Boswell’s herd to more than 40 goats.
