Bom in Danielsville, she was the daughter of the late Grady Hoover Allen and Don Nelle McElroy Allen. Mrs. Alewine loved hunting and fishing, but most impor tantly. she loved her grand children. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Judy Sellers and Tammy Fergu son. Survivors include her hus band, Roger Alewine; two children, Joe Alewine and his wife. Brandy and their two children, Katie and Jaxon, and Wendy Jordan and her two children, Taylor and Aylah; special nephew, Louis Sellers, and a host of other family and friends. Gwen Brooks JEFFERSON Gwen Turner Brooks, 69, entered into rest Tuesday, September 13, 2016. Mrs. Brooks was bom in Jasper, Tenn., the daughter of the late Charlsie Grider Turner and Melvin N. Turner of Jasper, Tenn. Mrs. Brooks held a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Mid dle Tennes see State University and taught school for 20 years, retiring from the Jefferson City School Sys tem, and later retiring from Norcross Tag Company. A member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson, where she was a member of the church choir and was the pianist for 35 years, she was an accomplished seamstress, interior decorator, an art ist, and enjoyed crocheting. Mrs. Brooks was a dedicat ed grandmother and loved watching her grandchildren play an array of sporting activities. Along with her mother, Mrs. Brooks is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wendell Brooks. Survivors in addition to her father are two sons, Tim Brooks and his wife Cindy, Jefferson, Stephen Brooks and his wife Molly, Franklin, Tenn.; sister, Ramona Turn er, Jasper, Tenn.; brother Melvin Turner and his wife Becky, Bryant, Tenn.; and eight grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening, working in his yard, and riding to the mountains. Most impor tantly, Mr. Faulkner loved his granddaughters. He was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth “Mutt” Faulkner. (081) George Garrison WATKINSVILLE George Arthur Garrison, 72, passed September 18, 2016, peacefully at his resi dence sur rounded by his family. He was born April 28, 1944 in Athens, the son of the late Jack Cleveland Garrison and Felecia Tolbert Garrison. He was preceded in death by a brother, Fredrick Paul Gar rison. He met his wife, Cathe rine “Kitty” Elizabeth Smith, in 1964, while serving in the United States Navy in Jacksonville, Fla. They were married on June 5, 1965, in Folkston, Ga. After get ting married, they made their home in Jacksonville, Fla. before moving back to Athens, where they raised their two daughters, Tracy and Tara. George began his career in law enforcement in 1970 as a patrolman with Ath ens Police Department. He later became Lieutenant of the Drug Task Force. He was very passionate about his career. He was honored along with his team with an award from President Ronald Reagan in 1982. When he retired in 1997, he was Captain of the Athens- Clarke County Drug Task Force of Northeast Georgia. He was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church. George loved foot ball and always cheered on his Georgia Bulldogs. He was loved and respected by many. He loved spending time with family, especial ly his grandchildren. They were the highlight of his life. Survivors include his lov ing wife of 51 years, Kitty Garrison; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Tracy and Dale Williford, Watkinsville, and Tara and Shane Hix, Danielsville; six grandchil dren, Ashley McGhee (her husband Richard McGhee), Joshua Shelton, Tatum Hix, Grayson Hix, Kylee Willi ford and George Williford; two great-grandchildren, Ruston McGhee and Jax- ton McGhee; two brothers, Herbert Cleveland Gar rison, Springfield, La. and Luther William Garrison, Maysville; and many, many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Ser vice will be held at Lord & Stephens West Chapel, Thursday, September 22, at 1 p.m., with Chaplain Jac queline Johnson officiat ing.
