After the meal, vice pres ident Sammy Reece made the introductions. President Jimmy Morrison called the meeting to order. No by-law changes were made this year. Agency man ager Casey Ryals shared his vision for serving the insur ance needs of the residents of Banks County. Women’s Committee Chair, Ann Gordon, intro duced the 2015-2016 winners of the Farm Bureau school contest. Peyton Black, win ner of the High School Art contest and Josie Cochran the Elementary School Post er winner. Gordon also introduced this years recipient of the Albert Ward Memorial Schol arship Christopher Crump. Before the closing of the business session, Jimmy Morrison presented the Ward Family a plaque recognizing the late Albert Ward for his more than 20 years of service on the Banks County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. Ward was best known for his generosity and dedica tion to serving his neighbor, the community and to pro moting agriculture. Guests were entertained by The Farrows. The dinner was made by Kay Reece and the event was co-hosted by the Banks County 4-H students. The evening was conclud ed with many guests winning door prizes. Fruit sales planned by Banks 4-H The Banks County 4-H is selling fmit through Nov. 8 as the annual 4-H fundraiser. Navel and Juice Oranges, Red Grapefruit, Tangelos, Tangerines, and Mandarin Oranges can be purchased from 1040 pound boxes. The Banks County 4-H is also offering Fuji, Granny Smith, and Pink Lady apples from Mercier’s Orchards in 5-pound bags. A citms trio (27 pounds of assorted navel oranges, tan gelos, and grapefruits) or the mixed bag which includes two of everything will also be offered. All proceeds benefit the Banks County 4-H and will be used exclusively for youth programming. Agriculture Awards Banquet planned Nov. 7 The annual Banks County Agriculture Awards Banquet will be held on November 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, located at 2405 Hwy. 52, Lula. Awards being present ed are: Farmer of the Year, Woman in Agriculture, Agri business of the Year and Hall of Fame. Host Sponsors are: Banks County Farm Bureau, Banks County Chamber CVB and Banks County Extension.
