Some elections officials across the country worry about the potential for vio lence as a result of the his torically contentious presi dential election pitting Hil lary Clinton against Donald Trump. Trump has publicly urged his supporters to go to polling places to watch for voter fraud and has repeatedly insisted that the election is rigged against him and voter fraud— from Democrats —will be wide spread. In some districts where polling places are at schools, schools are sus pending classes for the day, out of concern about election-related violence. None of Jackson County’s precincts feature voting in school buildings. “I really don’t,” Mangum replied, when asked if she anticipated any election-relat ed issues on Nov. 8 requiring a JCSO presence, but she added that her office will be ready to respond promptly should anything arise.
