Daughters of Confederacy
to host veterans program Sat.
The J.E.B. Stuart Chapter of the United Daughters of the
Confederacy will hold its monthly meeting with a Veterans
Day program on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the histor
ical courthouse in downtown Jefferson.
In honor of Veterans Day, a Military Service Award will be
presented to a local veteran.
The WWII Cross of Military Service will be awarded to
Rebecca Harber Dixon. She enlisted in the U S Navy on Feb.
11,1943, and was discharged on Sept. 4,1945, as a Storekeeper
First Class.
Dixon’s ancestor Tolman Harber (grandfather) enlisted in
Co. E 3rd Georgia State Guards Cavalry, on Aug. 3, 1863, and
served until Jan. 31,1864.
The guest speaker will be State Representative Tommy Ben
ton, and refreshments will be provided by members.
The public is invited to attend.
The UDC is a non-profit organization whose objectives are:
Historical, Patriotic, Benevolent, Memorial and Educational.

Santa
The next big communi
ty event to be held at the
Nicholson library will be
in December when Santa
comes to visit. Santa and
Mrs. Clause will arrive on
December 13 from 6 to 7:30
p.m. and will be available for
pictures.
Families are welcome to
bring their own cameras to
take pictures free of charge.
There will be a “selfie
area” with props for families
to make fun, holiday family
photos.
Crafts and cookies will be
available during the Santa
visit.
The Nicholson library will
be hosting a Holiday Wreath
Making Class on November
29 at 6:30 pm. Roy Lawl
er of the Enchanted Florist
will be demonstrating how
to make a grapevine wreath
to display.
The cost for the class is
$10. The cost covers all
materials that will be provid
ed and you will be able to
take your wreath home to
enjoy. Sign up is requested.

Club will be held on Wednes
day, November 16, at 3:30
p.m.
Imagination Station will be
held on Thursday, November
17, at 3:30 p.m.
Stay and Play for 2 to 4
year olds will be held on
November 17 at 10:15 a.m.

Wreath making class
planned at EJCHS
The East Jackson Comprehensive High School FFA will
hold a Mesh Wreath Making Class from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
on Thursday, Nov. 17, in the Ag Room.
Light refreshments will also be served.
The cost is $40.

Holiday giveaway is Nov. 20
The Feeding the Multitude annual holiday giveaway is set for
Sunday, Nov. 20, at the Jefferson Civic Center.
There will be a hot Thanksgiving meal, clothes closet,
health and beauty services, door prizes, games and commu
nity services. The event is open to the public and intended for
those in need.
Lunch will be served from 12:304:30 p.m. Free services will
be offered while supplies last starting at 1:30 p.m. Doors open
at 12:30 p.m.

Farm Bureau plans chicken mull
The Jackson County Comprehensive High School FFA
Alumni, with assistance from the Jackson County Farm
Bureau, will be holding a chicken mull on Saturday, November
12.
Carry out will be from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. at $7 per quart.
Dine-in will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at $7 per person, all
you care to eat.
Proceeds will go to the Jackson County FFA Alumni to help
support the students and the agriculture programs offered.
