Entered at the Postoftice at Cleveland
Ga., as second class mail matter.
Those who have anything for
publication in our issue for next
week will oblige.by sending in one
day earlier than usual, as the next
issue oFthe Courier will be printed
one day fn advance,
In the election recently held for
the selection of a mayor and coun¬
cil for 191,] the same body as was
elected last year were again chosen,
with the exception of Mr. Barrett,
who lias been elected Clerk of the
Superior Court and could not ac¬
cept, who has been succeeded by
Mr, W. A. Jackson.
Look over carefully the adver¬
tisement of B. A, Rogers & Co.,
of Helen, and we believe you will
find therein sufficient inducement
to pay you to drive, or lake the
train, to Helen to buy your Xmas
needs. Give them a trial,
Mr. J. H. London, who has been
with the American Asbestos Co.
for many years while they operated
in both White and Hail counties,
has returned to Blue Creek since
the mills have almost suspended
work. Another concern put out of
business by the war.
We are in receipt of a letter
bearing the postmark of Clermont.
This letter is intended for publica¬
tion, but which we cannot publish
unless the writer had given their
true name instead of a noth de
plume.
Writers to the Courier must give
their true name to insure publica¬
tion of a letter that might he ques¬
tioned, hence for our own protec¬
tion our correspondents should sign
their names to their news items. Of
course the name will not be pub¬
lished when the writer requests
that it shall not he.

'—-Snow tOith.e depth of about two
inches fell Saturday night and Sun¬
day morning over the northern por¬
tion of the county, and owing to
the severe cold wave which follow¬
ed some of it still remains on the
ground on the northern slopes.
Mr. G, E. Allen is missing a
glove lie lost a week or so ago on
the Gainesville road betweenCleve
land and the former residence of
Dr. Kimsrv, Jt was a right hand
glove and lie would be indeed glad
if the finder would leave it at
Courier office where he could
veniently get it.
We are requested to
that the Rev. Harrison, of
will preach at Shoal Creek at it
o’clock next Sunday, being
third Sunday in December.
Mr. J. W. Loggias, oi' Mossy

THe coldest morning of the sea*
son was that of Tuesday of this
week when the thermometer regis¬
tered between nine or ten above
zero. ♦
Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Allison have
both been unable to be out during
the severe weather of the past
week.
At a meeting of the town coun¬
cil held Monday afternoon Mr. A.
L. Dorsey was elected Marshal of
town of Cleveland to succeed Mr.
N. J. Allison. Mr. Dorsey has
taken charge of his duties, and will
doubtless make an efficient and ac¬
tive marshal.
THE CLEVELAND COURIER, CLEVELAND, GEORGIA.
Marshal Dorsey took “Uncle
Tom” Dickey in charge at the
depot Wednesday. “Uncle Tom”
was awfully mad, and of course
couldn’t help being mighty boister¬
ous. But “Uncle Tom” had a
*
mighty good reason for his vvrathy
conduct. Somebody, he said, had
stolen three quarts of liquor from
him. Now, there’s no doubt but
what “Uncle Tom” felt llie loss of
his whiskey more than a preacher
would miss his Bible with his ser¬
mon in it just as he entered the
pulpit.
The editor spent Sunday night in
Atlanta on business, and found
that city cold and windy on the
the streets.
Ladies who experience a feeling
of nervousness, exhaustion and
painful internal symptoms need the
fine restorative effect of Dr. Sim¬
mon’s Squaw Vine. Jt # is a wo¬
man’s medicine. It is especially
prepared to overcome the evil effect
of irregularities heart palpitations
and weakness due to the ailments
to which the female body is sub¬
ject. Brice $i.oo per bottle.

The Tax Collector, Mr. 1 ’. C.
Humphries, will be in Cleveland
December 17, 18, 19, and 21st for
the purpose of colecting state and
county taxes for the year 191.).
This year lias been very trying on
tax payers, arid even at this late
day there is a large amount yet tin
paid.
I11 this issue will be found the
advertisement of Mr. E. D. Smith
offering for sale his household and
kitchen furniture, etc. Mr. Smith
is going to move to Floyd county
in the near future, where, we trust
he may meet with abundant pros
perity.

hoarse croupy cough, choking and
grasping for breath,labored breath¬
ing, cal! for immediate relief. The
very first doses of Foley’s Honey
and Tar Compound will master the

Mr. A. A. Blalock has opened a
restaurant in connection with his
beet market and Ins prospects of
success are very promising. When
you come to town cold and hungry
a warm lunch from Mr. Blalock
will do you more good than
anything else.
The revenue officers have been
up in White cotinby again and
suppose have raided one or
illicit distilleries. We also
that they have taken Mr. Frank
Barrett away with them, and
that he has again been caught en¬
gaged in some way in the opera
lion of a still,
Mr. and Mrs. F. A. McAfee are
mov ing to town for a few months
chiefly to give their children the
benefit of our school. Mrs. Mc¬
Afee will assist in the post office.
Just as we go to press we learn
that Mr. Boyd Cox and Miss Cason
of Xacoochee were married Wed¬
nesday. We extend best wishes
them.
