Mrs. Cooper, of Atlanta, daugh¬
ter of the late II. P. Farrow who
once made the race for Congress
in the “Bloody Ninth” and who
owned Porter Springs, was in this
section one day last week wanting
to buy Indian relics and all old
things of value. She and her sister
Mrs. Whitney, of Atlanta, own the
Porter Springs property and hope
to make it again a famous Summer
resort as it once was. 'The high
way going that way everything is
in their favor.
Rev. C. W. Henderson who has
gone out from White and lias made
good, was out this way the other
day.
Mrs. W. A. Allen, of New Hol¬
land, spent the past week-end with
her son here.
In solitude there is time for
thought. After that brainstorm
Harry K. Thaw had time for
thought when he was put in jail
and he seems now to be posted on
the issues of the “Lost Cause.’
John Bunyan gave to the world
“Pilgrim’s Progress” while lie was
in theBedford jail. John Howard
Payne who had no home and was a
wanderer, touched millions of
hearts when lie wrote,“Mid pleas¬
ures and palaces though we may
roam, be it ever so humble there is
no place like borne.” He was in
prison at Spring Place, Murray
County, Ga., when be wrote those
immortal lines. Away from the
noisy, dusty street, in the quiet ol
country is the place for thoughts.
They have begun to take up the
stpel on the Blood .Mountain line.
They have until next February to
complete the job. 'They will now
direct their efforts toward getting
out the timber in Rabun County
and North Carolina.
Several from here, in fact most
everybody attended the Commence¬
ment at Cleveland. Sunday, Dr.
Sharp, of Y oung Harris, was at
his best and delivered an interest¬
ing message. He stressed the im¬
portance of small things. The
small mustard seed makes a large
plant after awhile. He also gave
us good advice about using the
word in tlie right place and to also
drive our ducks to a good market.
The auditorium was packed to its
full capacity . t
If the boy stands at the foot ol
his class that is no sign he is a
blank failure. They have probably
overshot the little fellow. Some
of our great men were very dull in
school but after awhile they stood
at the head of their class.

We notice folks hiving bees
knocking on the gum. We don’t
know why they do it but one thing
we do know is that it’s safer to
knock on the gum before the bees
go in than after.
There are some awful contrary
tolks in the world. We know a

\ MAKE YOUR DOLLARS
WORK FOR YOU!
Dollars work day and night. They never take
a holiday. Wouldn't you like to have dollars
working for you?
Many fortunes have been built by shrewd busi¬
ness men who begin with a small saving and add
to it week by week or month by month.
Money on interest accumulates rapidly. Your
dollars will work for you gladly if you will allow
them. I he habit of collecting interest is a mighty
good habit to form.
This bank wishes to encourage systematic saving.
We pay interest on time deposits.
