ASBESTOS BUZZING
Just from the Mountains.
Mr. 11 nd Mrs. Frank Turner
spent awhile Monday with J. W .
Freeman.
We seem to Imve struck the key¬
note last week, and now 1 he Edi¬
tor wants us to sing a song. We
know some little songs, hut tlix pet
pig rooted up our tune patch and
we nearly ruined our voice when
we were liltie crying tor butter¬
milk. Our voice is a cross between
the squeak <d an old wooden syrup
mill and the bray of Balaunis beast
It is us 'pleasant as the midnight
squall of a wi d cal.
You ought to be proud that you
live in the mountains. They some
times call us ‘'boustirs, ’ but there
are many tilings that have their
origin in the highlands Nearly
all of the great rivers are born in
the mountains. First they are tint
streams, lined on each side by ivy.
laurel and lionet stickle. Altei
awhile it troika- the wheel go
around and tlie mill stand still. It
tells the happy milter it is just from
the mountains while lie lias a hand
in the hopper and a hand in the
sack. Is reaches the plain lined
on either side by be Hit lul meadows
and animals coining down to
quench their thirst. It telis them
it is just from the mountains, 1 lie
power trust decided to corner on it
and stop its course. They build
the dam high and strong. It does
stop fdt awhile, but it has power
to rise for it was born away up in
the mountains. \\ lien the presi
deiH-elect decides to build em¬
bankments to masje it keep it its
channel tie had better buiid^ them
high and strong and keep ihutn
guarded for it was born high ih
the mountains. After floating
steamboats upon its bosum and
turning‘hundred of mills, it now is
building a great delta at its mouth
wi li material just from the moun¬
tains. Its sparkling waters are
here caught up and waited across
the s'ormy Atlantic by tlie life
giving Gulf'Streaih t > warm the
little children ot England, Scot¬
land, VValeS, Ireland, Norway and
Sweeden. It gives them comfort
just from the mountains. Oh!
v> here does this story end. It goes
on and on and on and on and ends
only in eternity and are constantly
lashing other shores. Several men
and women have gone out from
these highlands and like this great
river their influence has been felt
from Greenland’s icy mountains to
India’s coral strand,” because they
were ‘ just Irom the mountains.”
