It is now time the spring poets
were singing about the flower#.
There are millions of flowers blow¬
ing unseen and losing their sweet¬
ness on the mountain air. It is
said to he time to plant corn when
you can see the dogwood blossoms
and ttie leaves of the. white oak are
as large as a squirrels ear-.
The only trouble about making a
garden is w hen you get up a white
heat inteies! you dig up some angle
worms and then you take a notion
to quit and go fishing.
After having summer in March
we are now .login having some
winter in April, but hope it all
will prove to be all April Ion!.
They aie now asking you it you
have bad \otir iron this spring. In
former days they would drink tinc¬
ture. of iron through a piece ot fish¬
ing cane, tail that was more than
the system could assimulale. fhey
now lake iron by eating plenty ot
r egulable-, sy rup, eggs, milk and
poke s dad.
Our highway here is much belter
since Chief V . R, Ledford has
graveled the worse places.
Mr. Brad Wood, of Iliawassee.
was in thin purl last week selling
house paint.
When the weather gets right
agntn.th« formers will plant in ti
hurry. There is but one time of
the year ty plant.
The fanners liuva been making
good use of the fine weather of the
last week. They now have several
of their patches ready lor planting
Some are si ill hearing over the
radio that some coffee is good to
the last drop, and what is bother¬
ing them, what is ihe mailer with
the last drop?

ELAT ( REEK NEWS
By your 1 nolo Joe Ad
Some folks in this conimuiii'v
are done, planting cotton seed,
some nearly done an I others ready
to plant.
Trees are putting ion their vei
dure, ihe Robin red breast busy on
his last work before leaving for
other local ions. Everyone thinks
(here is c new opening in his line
of business. Book agents, cow
doclors, hoise traders. fortune fel¬
lers, sooth savers and automobile
dealers all fall deep down in theia
gizzard tn.it now is the opportune
time. () 11! Lord have mercy.
The poor man is a thing that
folks have to talk about, hut the
main tiling that lie is used for is to
be poor so the other fellow in iy be
weulthv. Without the poor there
would he no production; without
pro (action there would be no rich¬
es. There, Mr. Rich Main, we are
iI, you know it.'j
Watch a man in Ins daily routine
md see what lie admires and von
will have a true conception as to
ihe kind or Ivpe of man he is. A
few years ago we were employed at
i place ill Cleveland. Soon every
morning there was a nice old gen¬
tleman who would come to the
store every morning. And every
morning that a mocking bird sang
in the trees, between his home and
(lie slore, just that many mornings
ibis good man would stop and Its
■en to them sing, 1 wouldn’t take
fifty dollars for that. We thought
if the mocking bird when we
heard of the Old Gentleman’s
death. There’s not,a -nanip ,y gofe
familiar iti Cleveland, nor \\ bite
county, as a good clean man and
worthy citizen, than the one we
termed the “Bird Lover.”
'fliey told iu sometime since that
there was in circulation about .fJo
for every person in the V nited
States. And now comes along
some more figures show ing that
there is a car for every seven per¬
sons in the nation. Well, let’s
make it for every eight persons,
.md we will put the'average price
<ij automobiles down to .JiSoO Now.
every fellow must pay one-eighth
on the car, which would he $100
and he only has $40. So you see
every person in Ihe United States
owes 460011 a car. ()osh, no won¬
der it is hard times.
