Col. Luke Lea and the presidem
of a defunct bank in Asheville
were convicted on charged of the
bank breaking. Lea was convict¬
ed on charges os conspiracy to de¬
fraud the Central Bank and was
sentenced to serve from six to ten

Hon. John 1 . Kelley, of Luw
renceville, has been appointed by
Governor Russell legal adviser to
the Public Service Commission.
Governor Russell nas transmitted

The Senate bill to amend the
Neill-Traylir highway bill by
adding more mileage to the system
got caught in the rush and failed
to pass the house.
Mr. Barrett amended the bill by
adding the road from Cleveland to
Dahlonega, Cleveland to Clark'es
vjiie, Nacoochee to Iliawassee and
N'aconchpe to Clat kesyiffe op, the
system,
Senator Pruett failed to have
these roads added to -the system,
but he hid ask for one from Dah
ionega to Ellijay.
Mrs. F. A. McAfee left this
morning to visit her daughter,Mrs.
R. T. McGahee, in Cincinnati.
