ASBESTOS BUZZING
.1 list from the Mountains.
The autumn weather was usher¬
ed in hist Saturday. September
has been very warm and dry.Frost
will be late this year as there was
a late spring. A few years ago it
frosted every month in the year
except, July and August.
The school at Yonuh is being
this year by Mrs. 1 ’at Allison and
Mrs. Lois Westmoreland.
Messrs Vas Hefner and J. N.
Blalock ;tre now making fine syrup
Mr. les'e Westmoreland, of
Spoilt Cane, was in this section on
business last week.
Messrs Luther. Henry and Ray
Nix have been passing this way
quite often.
Rev. II. II. Humphries passes
this way five days in the week, lie
i» teaching at Robertstown.
Messrs Bob Edwards audKiiodeii
Sears were here Monday.
It now looks like that the cutting
out the entire cotton crop for next
year is not going to work. As
there is in overprrductioa of every¬
thing toe most of us are in favor ol
a year of jubilee. Jn the olden days
this came every seventh year, and
if they still held to this jubille
practice it would be better times.
This world has gone mad over
envy, strife, competition, fashion
and fame. It needs a breathing
spell You read the beautiltil
magazine* and journcns which tells
you bow to dress, sew-, cook, farm,
raise poultry and stock, how to
tui-k, walk, play anil when to go to
market. All is JJvery wisely put,
but on the back cover is the pic¬
ture of t beautiful girl with a
cigarette in her painted lips. It
may be alright lor them to =m«ke
but most men prefer one that
doesn’t smoke.
As tHe days will soon grow cold
necessity, fashion and style will
soon teil the barefooted boy with a
cheek of tan and a heart of joy and
whose bank never breaks, to put
his leet in a leather prison. 1'hey
will quit the tripping on green
like Mary's littie lamb for them
the summer is gone and the days
grow cold. ( 3 t h
When John was lending the
sheep he was told to call for help
if the wolf came. On the first day
he called for help and on Uu
second day also but there was n«i
wolf. They loft him laughing in
his sleeve. On the third day the
the wolf came in earnest and killed
hfs little pet lamb, No help came
tor he’d deceived. What a tangled
web we weave when first we de¬
ceive. It is now called pulling a
great “.stunt” not deception.

Don’t forget next Saturday and
is our regular preaching day at
Blue Creek. Rev. Homsr Thomas
will preach. Everybody has a
cordial invitation to attend,
Downie Brothers Circus
To Be in frainesville Moaday.
The many friends of Charles
Spatks, internationally t anions
showman, will be pleased to learn
that this popular veteran of the
white tops has been retained as
manager o! Dowuie Brothers Cir¬
cus which gives two performances
ill Gainesville Monday, next, with
a good old time circus street parade
utjjnoou.
Foi almost two score years, Mr.
Sprrks has been prominently as¬
sociated with the finest circuse,* to
tour the western hemisphere. Two
years ago he disposed of Jhis circus
investments, planning to retire, a
feat few showman have accomplish¬
ed successfully, for there seems to
be something in the saying—“Once
a circus man, always a circus man”
So after a two year vacation, the
lure of the brass band and the
rumble of the little red wagons was
beginning to call him.
Being offered the management
nf Downie Bros. Circus he lost no
time in accepting with the definite
understanding that he should run
the show his way, the policy ut
which has always been—public
first, and profits second. Once
more Mr. .Sparks set out in the
world in ivliich'lie had been since
childhood.
The entire program assembled
under his direction during the past
winter, is said to be one of the fin¬
est that has ever been presented
anywhere. i'lie Downie Brothers
agents in all parts of tfie world
have secured some of the greatest
of Europe’s artists, combing them
with the cream of the American
arenic stars rounding out a program
the kind which has brought fame
to tHe name of this estimable show¬
man throughout the United States
and Canada.
The most costly group of Arabian
horses that have ever reached these
shores were added to the anima*
part of 'he program. The new en¬
larged menagerie in connection
wiih the circus is the second larg¬
est traveling menagerie in the
world, wiih three long isles of
specially const!acted wild animal
dens, herds of giaut elephants,
camels and zebras. Each den is
well lighted so as to give a full
view of the animal life within.
In the big main tent which is
larger by many times than ever be¬
fore is to be found thousands ot
comfortable seats, arranged to af¬
ford i full view of the three rings,
while a corps of ‘polite, well train¬
ed attendants assist the patrons to
assure their every comfort,a feature
that has long been the watchword
with the circus under the Charles
.Spark- management.
