SO THEY SAY
By 1. (). II. Morethan
The weather is very dry in this
section arid crops are beginning to
need rain.
Ill these days of picnics, camp¬
ing parties, etc., when we see a
truck load of folks speeding along
the highway we don’t know
whether it is a bunch of people out
just for the outing, or whether it is
a truck load of fellows who have
decided to run for governor.
We have not wnote any for some¬
time, as we have been attending
court. You see some fellows might
have passed here yesterday or some
time last year, one day or that
night or the day and night before,
going a certain direction more or
less, and we didn’t know them, nor
didn’t know what they were want¬
ing to steal, and we never thought
to ask them, They went on, that
is: if on was where they were
started, and somebody said some
body got some meat stolen. We
didn’t geti.any of the meat, so you
see by what we have tried to ex¬
plain to you we knew enough to
almost set a fellow down fin one of
these iiere lextrickety chairs, {and
they sent for us to come down to
Gainesville and tell them what we
didn’t know and by George when
we go there they had forgot all
about sending for us and so we
stay around there four or five days,
sweating like a negro at an elec
and listened to them lawyer
fellows dispute one another’s words
bllt !;ist lold us to collie
around there and let the cat out of
tire wallet. So one lawyer tried to
get us to tell the “truth one way.
and ttie other to tell the truth aome
other w ly. Well, we done the
best we could to please them both
and they turned one fellow loose
and sent another off for doing the
same thing. The one that done
nothing. Gosh? we can’t figure
out this court business. We know
one thing they can make a fellow
come here aim stay, loose a week’s
work, get some fellow fixed to
wear a suit of clothes stripped like
a coon’s tail, and put him where
we con pay lax to feed him and let
j him do rhe work lor nothing that
