500,000 children und adults in
the United States Lave crippled by
infantile paralysis.
Already this year patents .in
Alabama and Georgia have seen
their children die and otheis be¬
come paralyzed bewiuse of tin
disease, which striked every sum¬
mer,
“Doctor, why can not this be
drevented,” ask parents. The
doctors can only shake their heads.
The cause of infantile paralysis it
not knowj. There i-, es yet no
prevention or cure.
Georgia is being asked to con¬
tribute to a fund which will make
possihie tne perpetuation of re
search into the cau-e of infantile
paralysis, so that a cure may be
found.
The small hospital at Warm
Springs;,, with a capacity of only
100 beds, obviously can not care
for the more than half million
patents,
Research must go on,
cause must be found. Other itisti
tutir ns which cooperate must tv
enabled to carry on.
Think it over! Is not this cause
worth pi? or $5 or $10? or a
much as you can give? Think i
You have given to many causes
You have given to many causes
You will be asked to give to man*
more. Ask yourself honestly if
this is not a cause which cries out
for help. Little children and
grown-ups are daily dying and be¬
ing crippled! The Jcause is still a
mpstery.
Ask yourself again—honestly—
can you afford not to help!

usmi! repaying Loans from
R. F. C,
Although banks and trust companies
have been the largest borrowers from
the Reconstruction Fiaance Corpora
tinn, they have exceeded all other
classes ol borrowers in the rapidity ot
their repayments. Since the inception
ot the R. F. C. in February, 1032. loans
have been avtksriaed by it to 7,080
banking institutions in the atiiount of
81,995,000,000. Of this sum »*4i,000.9011
was not taken by the borrowers, ths
actual advances being 81,553,000,000.
Repayments against these advances
through April 30, I93i, aggregated
$925,000,008, or about *0 per cent. T}\*
ratio of rep&ymeitts for all classes of
borrower* has been only about 37 par
cent. These rapid repayments by tie
