Both plants and people are liv¬ ing organisms, dependent on cer¬ tain nutrients for growth and ■well Scientists being. have long known that nitrogen, phosphorus, po¬ tassium, sulphur calcium, magnesium and health. are necessary for plant The need for certain; micronutrients — such as iron, manganese, copper and zinc —is a trace more recent discovery. Only amounts of these minerals are needed, but without - them plants suffer and eventually die. The most common micronutrient deficiency is a lack of iron, called iron chlorosis or “anemia”. Iron chlorosis can be found in plants all over the country, but there are some areas where most untreated plants suffer this con¬ dition. For example, in the West plants find it difficult to get all the iron they need from the soil, and in the East iron chlorosis often results from worn out soils. Pale green or yellow young leaves is one of the major symp¬ toms of iron chlorosis. Another sign to look for is fewer and smaller blossoms. . Iron deficiency can best be cor¬ rected with a type of chemical called a “chelate" (pronounced used key-late). iron chelates One of the is Sequestrene, most widely a tural development Chemicals. of Available Geigy Agricul , as a 1 powder, it can be dissolved for application used undiluted with directly a sprayer or on the soiL Either way, it will bring an iron-starved plant back to its original glow of health. -— THE CLEVELAND COURIER *Mewe enter my subscription to E COURIER as I bare indicated loir i • ENCLOSE) .Check_Money Order-Caeh A ME___—- JREET ADDRESS JtFD.
