■ our society is
those who always think they
know how to solve other peo¬
ple's problems while they ignore
their own.
Although they know little or
nothing about the situation they
purport to be
trying to cor¬
rect, and re¬
gardless of
whether they
are wanted or
needed, they

and take over. Invariably, mat¬
ters are made worse instead of
improved.
It is regrettable that in recent
years, and even now, the South
has become a focal point for
such outside meddling. There
have been agitation to the break¬
ing point, intrusions upon the
rights and property of local citi¬
zens, and contempt for law and
order.
I am appalled that such con¬
duct has been encouraged by cer¬
tain members of the Senate who,
like those they support, pretend
to know all the answers to prob¬
lems of one section of the nation
while their own goes to pot.

IF THEY ARE so imbued
with the missionary spirit, I
submit that they will find a fer¬
tile field for their work in their
own localities. Instead of con¬
verging en masse upon littla
communities of the South, they
would do well to send their le¬
gions into their own crime-rid¬
den cities, if they dare.
In New York City, for instance,
it has gotten so that it is no
longer safe to ride the subways
or walk the streets. Hate gangs
prowl about assaulting men,
women and children. Police pro¬
tection has been greatly In¬
creased, but still the lawlessness
continues.
It has been described as a city
of terror, and many fear that
the worst is yet to come this
summer.

IF THE CURRENT crop of
do-gooders are as altruistic and
bent human ou advancing the cause of
relations as they claim,
I contend their talents are being
misdirected.
Let them work on their own
problems taO before setting out to
people how they should han¬
dle theirs,

items that cost less today than they did twenty-five
