Job Title: Elections and Registration Clerk Job Summary Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Ensures voter registration records and absentee voting by mail and in person are processed and maintained in compliance with Federal, State, County and Municipal laws/regulations. • Assists customers; responds to questions and requests from the public. • Reviews voter registration applications; informs applicants of any insufficient infor mation needed. • Assists with proofing of ballot styles and post-election audit reports. • Pulls reports and correspondence related to mailed absentee ballots. • Pulls reports and processes conviction notices as furnished by the Secretary of State/ Superior and District Federal Courts. • Processes applications and takes photo IDs. • Maintains proficiency in recordkeeping of correspondence and filing records. • Good communication and interpersonal skills with coworkers, supervisor, political parties/representatives, and general public in a courtesy manner. • Assists the public with voter registration; verifies proof of voter eligibility; assists ap plicants with application process; administers oaths; assigns precincts; ensures new data and other pertinent information are entered to computer filing system. • Ensures voter registration files are updated properly by removing the names of de ceased and convicted felon voters from the list of eligible voters, making address changes, obtaining proper forms for registration and cancellation, and performing other related functions. • Records and preserves official documents. • Processes incoming and outgoing mail. • Assists in ensuring votes are taken, counted, and submitted properly and legally to the Georgia Secretary of State Office. • Assists absentee ballot process; oversees the completion of absentee applications; verifies voter eligibility; lists voters name on TS Absentee Log; programs the cor rect ballot style for the voter on a voter access card using an assigned Touch Screen Unit; issues voter access cards and directs voters to the assigned Touch Screen Unit; retrieves voter access cards. Education, Training and Experience The Elections and Registration Clerk should possess, at minimum: • A High School Diploma or equivalent. • A VALID Georgia Driver’s License. • At least three (3) years' experience in elections and reporting environment or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties and responsibili ties of the position.
