This morning lieutenant Fruf
cott, of the I ouifa, from Gibral
tar, arrived at the admiralty
with difpatches from general
O’Hara and lord St. Vincent,
No engagerm nt had taken place
between the fleets. 1 he enemy
was blocked up in Cadiz by lord
Keith. (Star,
Lieutenant Trufcott, of the
Louifa gun-brig, has arrived at
the admiralty this moinirg from
Gibraltar, with difpatches fioin
rail St. Vincen', announcing
that the combined (Le r s had
enteicd Cadiz, horn whence
they had not failed on the 20th.
On that day lord Keith was ex
peded to pals the Gut, with
thirty three fail ot the line, and
would immediately pioceed to
the blockade of Cadiz. Courier .
The arrival of the combined
fleet at ‘ adiz, and its having
again failed from that port, are
menioned as rumouis in the
French papeis.

ration which it is faid is to be
made to the republic, before the
allied armies enter the French
territory.
The anniverfary of the 14th
of July was yefterday celebrated
with great foleranity. The Hid
magiflrates of the republic pro-j
ceeded to the champ de mars, j
accompanied by an immenfe:
number of citizens. They all
repeated with enthufiafm the
oath to make the republic tri
umph over all its enemies.

“ a report has been pievalcnt
here that Buonaparte with a
co umn of his armv had taken
St, Jean d’Acre, and that ano
ther column had penetrated to
Damas, and occupied Mount
Lebanon ; but this report is
not founded in authentic infor
mation, all that is known as cer
tain is. that aboutthecommence

capitulated, and the city of
Genoa is taken. 1 he report is
without any foundation.
Ju'y 28—It is reported, that
Niou, commiflary at London
for the exchange of prisoners,
enraged at the abufive language
ufed by Pitt againft; the French
nation the 12th July,challenged
him, and propofed a meeting in 1
St. James's park. We are par- !
ticularly acquainted wfih Niou.
He is as gallant a man as he is a
good patriot, but we cannot
believe that he could read fuch
abufive language with any other
leeiing than of profound con
