Morgan will certainly receive
her share of cotton this fall, and
that mean! that her merchants
will have good trade.
Morgan is the loveliest little
town in Southwest Georgia, The
only thing she needs is the rail¬
road, and she’s going to have that.
Tom Watson says the Popoulist
party is not dead. No, they are
only sleeping. Alahama went
57,288 Democratic majority.
Georgia is going to do the same
tiling on Oct. 5 (before they wake
up.)
In spite of the fact that actual
lighting has been stopped, the
soldiers will doubtless be detained

will speak in Arlington on Satur-
lay, September 8rd, at 10 o’clock
a. m. Hon. Hogan’s Populistic

It is officially given out
W ashington that the strength of
the navy will not bo
reduced on account of the cessa-
tion of hostilities, but on the
contrary the administration is de-
termined to maintain a very
naval force, holding that it is ne-
oossitated by the increased obli-
gallons which the United States

upon it.
Gov. Atkinson has issued a proc¬
lamation submitting to the people
of the state the constitutional
amendment providing for the
election of judges and solicitors
general by the electors of the
whole state. Gov. Atkinson sub¬
mits the proposed amendments
for ratification or rejection by the
legal voters of the state at the
general election to be held Wed¬
nesday, Oct. 5, 1898.
The Monitor lias it on good au¬
thority that a legal representative
of the Georgia Pino Railroad will
be sure to visit Morgan in a few
days. That promise has been
made tts several times before, but

railroad.—and when they do come
the point the Monitor wants our
people to show the officers of the
road is that they want the road to
come to Morgan. If they will
manifest this spirit in the right
way, the road will certainly come.
