Georgia Pine and the Central. Tin Dawson News of this week, furnishes the following bit of mis- infornmth >n regarding the Georgia Pine railroad, despite the fact that the rumored sale of the Geor- gia Pine to the Central has been officially d<v med at headquarters of both roads. Here it is: “Mr L. A. Hatcher, the well- known Dawson drummer, was at home Saturday and Sunday, and told circumstances that point to the reliability of the report that the Central has bought the Geor¬ gia Pirn Railway. Mr. Hatcher says the Central will lay the track < } f the Georgia Pine and complete the road into Arlington and that both roads will use the same depot and have other facilities in com¬ mon. Mr. Hatcher says the Georgia Pine people deny the ru¬ mored sale, but that there is much going on that gives color to the report. i 1 Cervcra Ordered Back to Spain. The American soldiers seem to have mane a great impression upon the Povtoricans, by their size which is gigantic, compared to that of the natives or tile Spanish, says an ex¬ change. The first troops landed at Ponce were Pensylvany and Wiscon¬ sin regiments, all men of line stature, some of them more than six feet in height, and commanded by officers of equally fine physique. The Porto Rico horses and mules are propor- tionately undersized as compared with the American varieties, and t hese latter came in for a share of the wondering admiration.
