Farewell Entertainment
To Mrs. Smith
/A very pretty tea was given by
the Woman's Auxiliary Society of the
Methodist Church on Friday after
noon, at the residence of Mrs. Len
Baldwin. The affair was given as a
farewell pariy to Dr. and Mrs. Rem
bert Smith, and there was a tinge of
sadness even over the festivities, for
all greatly regret to see these splen
did people go. A happy feature of
the afternoon was the presentation
to Mrs. Smith of a handsome silver
soup-ladle.
Mrs. W. L. Richardson, in an_ap
propriate little speech, gave it to Mrs.
Zmith in the name of the M. W. M.
S., “hoping that she would always re
member Marietta and would some
day return.”
Refreshments were served in the
dining-room, Mrs. W. A. DuPre and
Mrs. Alvan Gilbert assisting Mrs.
Baldwin. Mrs. M. R. Lyon poured
tea at the prettily decorated table,
whose centerpiece was a bowl of
lovely autumn roses.

| William G. McAdoo has asked Mr.
Wilson to relieve him of the office of
Secretary of the Treasury and mem

He gives as a reason his inability

and that he wishes to engage in more

Mr. Wilson has promised to accept
his resignation and fill the place as
soon as possible.
As Mr. McAdoo was also Director

by his retirement.
No appointment has yet been an

London, Nov. 27.—While legal au

in accordance with such decision, in
asmuch as Germany will be repre

The only reason the unwelcome
guest is on their hands, the Dutch say,
is that Holland is the nearest neutral
