A VERY ACTIVE WEEK

on Monday evening at the home of
Mr. Welborn Reynolds on Cleveland
Place, at which a large number of the
men of the parish were present. The
discussion concerned not only the
best methods to be pursued in con
ducting the campaign, but plans
were considered and a program out
lined for a greater St. James church.

represented by this Parish, will re-‘
ceive a great impetus as an out
cropping of this meeting. ‘
The group prayer meetings which
have been held each week in the
homes during the psat month were
supposed to be concluded on last Fri
day night, but there has been en
gendered such a spirit of good com
radeship and a desirg for a greateri
manifestation of social service that a
geenral demand has come from the
participants for a continuation of
these meetings, announcement of
which will be made later.
A prayer meeting held by the
Smyrna group of Episcopalians on
the night of December 2nd was at
tended by several of the campaign
committee. Much interest was mani
fested and pledges for a satisfactory
amount were made, this being the
;first group in the Parish to answer
‘the financial call of the campaign.
- St. Mary’s Guild held a most in
teresting meeting Monday afternoon
at the home of Mrs. Welborn Reyn
olds.
- Miss Sara Veal, of Rome, who is
spending the winter with her sister,
Mrs. Warren Stokes, has took charge
of a new class in the church school
and will be a valuable addition to this
Parish, where she is warmly wel
comed.
There was a celebration of the
Holy Communion at 11 o’clock Sun
day morning, administered by the
Rector, Rev. R. R. Claiborne.
The announcements for the week
are as follows:
Morning prayer on Sunday at 11
o'clock; evening prayer at seven
o'clock; prayer service on Friday af
ternoon at four o’clock. Church
school at 9:30 Sunday morning.
The .following list of representa
tive citizens, who constituted the
Canvassing Committee on Sunday af
ternoon, is in itself a fine proof of the
great importance of the movement,
since they are the type of men who
do not lend their time 4nd talents to
trivial matters: B. L. Mclntosh, Her
bert Hague, A. A. Irwin, C. T. Nolan,
E. R. Hunt, W. E. Schilling, J. R.
Brumby, Jr., T. W. Holmes, Malcolm
Sylvester, H. S. Willingham, L. W.
Camp, W. M. Reynolds, Henry Cole,
Robert Willingham, Eugene White,
Edgar Nichols, R. deT. Lawrence,
MeDonald Lawrence, Lewe Sessions,
N. K. Smith and Randolph Simmonds.
The canvass, which was begun on
Sunday afternoon by the above
named committee, has already result
ed in decided success.
Absolutely accurate returns can
not be,secured for several days to
come, since there are a number of
Episcopalians scattered through the
outlying districts of the Parish. Some-
