MEMORIAL
On January 17th, 1920, Millard
Benson slipped away from this life to
join the “great beyond”. None of his
many friends expected his death and
all regret that he was cut down so
young, only 38 years old, but he had
rounded out this .short life as few
men have. He was reserved and
quiet, and his greatest qualities were
energy and promptness.
He was born March 24th, 1881,
and early in life identified himself
with the Baptist church; lived an hon
est; truthful, earnest Christan life
for the rest of his 38 years. In his

boyhood he was counted one of the
best boys in the community in which
he grew up; always shy and quiet, he
was an example to his sister and
brothers and a great comfort to his
parents. His loss to us a link con
necting us to a better world, and
prompting us upward. A Christian
[never dies, rooted as it were in this
‘world, and transplanted to the other,
there to come to full perfection of
being. Jesus -Christ has -abolished
death and wrought life and “immortal
ity to light through the gospel. I
never knew a more devoted husband,
father, son or brother.
Millard leaves a wife, one son and
two little daughters, besides his par
ents, four brothers and one sister to
mourn his loss. To the sorrowing
family and friends we would say, “Be
not grieved over much, he is gone but
we know where to find him.” He was
laid to rest in the Gresham graveyard
where many of his relatives have been
buried. His pastor, Dr. I. A. White,
performed the burial services, assist
‘ed by a life-long friend, Bro. George
Crow. Let us remember him and
the many virtues he crowded in his
38 years. Many beautiful flowers at
tested the love and high esteem- of
his many friends. « —“Gy.”.
