MOUNT ZION
The heavy rains that have been
falling in this section have damaged
the corn crops a great deal and also
makes the grass grow in the cotton
fields.
Mrs. Charlie Landcaster has been
sick for the past week but is slowly
improving. We all hope to see her
out again soon.
Mr. Charlie Head made a pleasure
trip to Tennessee and returned home
last Friday.
Mr. Walter Bourn of Smyrna spent
a few days last week with his sister
and brother at this place.
Mr. Watson Rogers visited friends
near Nesbitt Chapel one day last
week.
The Rev. Pullen delivered two
very interesting sermons here Sun
day and Sunday night and will begin
his revival meetings here the third
Sunday in August.
Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Head made a
business trip to Atlanta last Satur
day.
Mr. Will Slaton and son visited
Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Richards above
Marietta one day last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Lemon and
Miss Alice Lemon visited relatives
in Smyna last Sunday.
The school opened at this place
Monday morning with a very good
attendance, about al] of the school
age.
We do not see very many auto
mobiles passing on our roads now as
the rain has made the mud very bad
and the cars can hardly travel.

The Literary School is expected
to open at this place Monday morn
ing, July 19.

Crowe a visit Sunday morning.
A series of meetings will begin
here next Sunday morning July 25th
at 11 o’clock. We hope to have a
large congregation at each service.
Miss Colena Reed of Smyrna has
charge of the first and second grades
in the literary school here, while
Mrs. D. C. Barber has been sick.
Mr. Broadus McCord motored over
from Marietta Camp Ground Sunday
to pay one of our fair young ladies a
visit,
Miss Alma Minch and Mr. Luther
Hyde of Marietta were quietly mar
ried Saturday, July 17th, at the resi
dence of Rev. and Mrs. Geo. V.
Crowe. Sunday morning,July 18th
Miss Lula King of Marietta and Mr.
Thomas C. Butler of Conyers were
married,Rev. Crowe officiating on
both occasions. All of these young
people are very popular and Olive
Spring joins Marietta and Conyers
in wishing for them a long and happy
life.
Herbert and Marjie Reed, two
charming children of Mr. and Mrs. L
I. Reed, have a severe case of diphth
eria.
Little Beatrice Lutz, who had her'
tonsils removed at the Marietta sani
tarium several days ago, has return
ed home and is doing nicely at this
time.
Mr. and Mrs. James Gann of Smyr
na spent the week-end here with rela
tives.
Little Doris Turner of Marietta
spent sevral days the past week with
her little cousin, Marguerite Daniell.
Mr. Jessie L. Daniell has had his
residence repainted which improves
the appearance very much.
Mr. T. A. Brown will leave this
week for Dallas, Texas.
Mrs. N. H.*Eidson spent several
days the past week in Marietta as
the guest of her sister, Mrs. L. E.
Dawson.
Mr. Hobert Darnell is in Greens
i‘mm visiting his sisters.
. Charlie, the little son of Col and
‘Mrs. Jessie L. Moore, who has been
real sick, is greatly improved at this
fime.
Mr. J. H. Knox has accepted a pos
ition in Atlanta with the J. K. Orr
Shoe Company.

Saturday and Sunday.

this writing we are glad to say.
A big meeting will start at Mt.

Nuse creek last Friday on a fishing
trip and caught a lot of fine fish
They had afish fry on the banks of
the creek.
Mr. George Griggs and wife spent
Sunday with their son, Mr. Cliff
Griggs, at Pine Mount.
Mr. Luther Mathis will take up
his old job with the Atlanta Casket
Co. August Ist.
Mr. John Mathis and daughter, Ruby
will go to work in Atlanta about the
Ist of August.
